"Worst car rental experience in my life and I have rented from many different car rental companies. When returning car we were told by Cliff that we were good to go, and miraculously less than 15 minutes of leaving we were called and told the car was “dirty inside and had pet hair inside” and were going to be charged a 250.00 deep cleaning fee. Went back to store and spoke with Cliff who treated myself and my son as if we were incompetant! I asked to be shown what he was taking about and he showed me gravel and dirt on the floor on passenger side of car carpet and some pet hair on seats (mind you when we received this car it was right after a major snow storm) and the car had floor mats in the entire car except for passenger side and we live in Iowa and hard to keep floors clean in the middle of winter! Needless to say I took the car and vacuumed it out to ensure we did not have to pay for deep cleaning which took me less than 15 minutes to complete. Moral of story I don’t know anyone who makes 250.00 for 15 minutes of work, guess I’m in the wrong business but one thing is for sure I will NEVER rent another car from Hertz again!"

"The car that I rented was in a bad condition. Multiple dents, breaks and pretty filthy with oil smudges all over. Also, the car was marked as full gas even though it was compltely empty. I would not rent from this location or hertz if I had the option. On the other hand, the service was friendly and fast (manager not very helpful though)"

"If I could give them a zero I would, but I can't so they get a 1. Absolutely horrible experience. My car was being worked on and the dealership was paying for the rental car. I was charged over $200.00 that I should not have been. Hertz customer service is of no help in this instance. I was told that nothing could be done because they had not charged me despite the bank statements I have that say otherwise. In the time I had the car(s) (3 of them to be exact), each and every one of them had some type of issue (punctured tires that would not hold air, broken seats, dirty, not comparable to my car that was being worked on, etc.) I was told I could return one of the rentals for a new one due to issues and when I arrived to pick up the new car they did not have one and told me they tried to call me but could not reach me, then rattled off a completely incorrect number, despite having contacted me previously. The people at the location were rude, spoke down to me, and acted as if I was incompetent, which I can't help but wonder if that had to do with me being a woman, considering when my boyfriend went in with me they were completely different. All in all, I have not been contracted with them for a week now and still have yet to be reimbursed, in fact, today they charged me more money for "not refilling the gas tank before returning the car" However, I refilled the car before returning it. This charge is supposed to be wiped clean from my account, but with the way things have been going, I highly doubt that. Moral of the story-do NOT rent with Hertz."

"I have never rented a car from Hertz before this. I chose Hertz because it was less expensive and a more convenient location than the other company. They were prompt. Everything was ready before my scheduled pickup time. The rental agent was thorough explaining the optional add-ons, and respected my choices without being pushy. The car was in excellent condition and very clean. Returning process was very fast as well. I will definitely rent from Hertz again, and I have already told family and co-workers about Hertz."

"Car was dirty. Drove with speedometer off. Got to my destination shut car off and then it wouldn't start. Associate insisted I get insurance for roadside assistance $18.99 a day. I call and waited on the phone for an hour and a half and no answer. Finally a gentleman stopped and asked if I needed help. I turned the key and he had me pop the hood. Battery box lid was off. Obvious marks from previous jumps. I was told to go buy a portable charger so I could charge the car to keep it starting. Had to buy one just to keep car starting each day. When I was renting it they said I was paying to not have to clean it out ,bring it back and got charged for cleaning due to candy wrappers and some sand? I would never use Hertz. Dishonesty is their policy. Told me one thing when picking up car and opposite when dropping it off. They charged me nearly $100.00 extra on return than my receipt said when I rented it. Never again well Hertz get my money."
