North Lee County Food Pantry
About the Business
Welcome to the North Lee County Food Pantry, located at 3421 Avenue L, Fort Madison, Iowa. As a nonprofit, all-volunteer, tax-exempt organization, we are dedicated to serving the needs of our neighbors in the Lee County area. Each month, we provide essential food assistance to over 500 families and 1,600 individuals, ensuring that those facing food insecurity have access to nourishing meals.
Eligibility for assistance is based on Iowa residency and income guidelines set by The Emergency Food Assistance Program. However, even families who do not meet these criteria can receive limited aid, in accordance with the Iowa Department of Human Services. The Fort Madison Food Pantry is committed to upholding a strict non-discrimination policy, ensuring that all individuals are treated with respect and dignity, regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or reprisal for prior civil rights activity.
Our operations rely heavily on the generosity of our community. Through fundraisers and food drives, as well as partnerships with the Food Bank of Iowa and local grocery stores, we are able to stock our shelves and provide for those in need. Hunger affects not just individuals, but entire communities, impacting mental and physical health, education, and work performance. By supporting the Food Pantry, you are helping to strengthen the fabric of our community.
We are entirely volunteer-run, with approximately 6,000 hours of volunteer time contributed each year. We invite you to join us in making a difference by volunteering or donating. Your support can provide direct assistance to a neighbor in need and help combat the pressing issue of hunger in Lee County, where nearly 1 in 7 residents struggle with food insecurity.
Thank you for your generosity and commitment to our community. Together, we can make a meaningful impact. For more information on our non-discrimination policy, please visit [USDA Non-Discrimination Statement](https://www.fns.usda.gov/civil-rights/usda-nondiscrimination-statement-other-fns-programs).
