"The food is excellent, the service is fast, the employees are very friendly. We got the Rachel with turkey on rye, and a cup of the chili with cheese on top. Both were fantastic. And yay for pickle spears! We just love it here, and will be back soon!"
"Sandwiches were really good, meatballs were alright, Mac salad was bangin. The only thing I didn’t care for was there was the overpowering mustard taste on my sandwich. Overall, a good restaurant but kinda pricy in my opinion."
"1st time experience gave me wanting more overall 5 stars I ordered Apple Butter Jeans (a bursting flavor tongue craving wow factor!)"
"Great place to grab a fantastic sandwich. The Italian was amazing and the chicken salad was homemade and so amazing (cranberry bread was excellent). Will visit again on next visit to the Quad Cities"
"A good local sandwich place is a great thing to have in your area. I don't mind a Jimmy John's, Subway, or Jersey Mike's sub sandwich from time to time, but local is almost always better. I'd seen Meatball's Sandwich go in a year or two back but hadn't yet gotten to trying them. With a free Monday off work due to the New Year's holiday observance, I decided it was time - I was going to visit for some sort of sandwich. I thought that I'd be getting some cold cuts, but found something better upon arriving and reviewing the menu - Meatball's has a Cuban! I got to talk to one of the sandwich makers behind the counter for a bit about it. After he told me they use a shredded roast pork shoulder and just plain yellow mustard, I was sold - the best Cubans I've had use the normal mustard. I paid and sat down to eagerly await my number being called. The space Meatball's occupies has changed a hands a few times since being built a few decades ago. First impressions of the space - Meatball's has definitely made this place their own. The floor throughout is snap wood panels with a faded, grainy look that gives the space a clean yet lived in feel. The tables and chairs are a combination of high top and standard seating, of which I can confirm the bench on the low top seating was comfy enough. The ceiling area is the only thing that sticks out a bit. There's a drop ceiling with vintage looking 2x2 tiles in the exposed kitchen/prep area, but the dining area is exposed with all the conduit and HVAC equipment visible. Was it a little distracting? Yeah. Did it take away from the experience in any way? Not really. I enjoy spaces where you can tell someone remodelled or recommissioned the space for functionality. My sandwich was out to me within 5 minutes and, oh my, this Cuban was fantastic! First, I must mention that it wasn't enormous - maybe 4 x 7 inches total. In keeping with the mention of total sandwich size is the overall proportionality of the ingredients. There was a sufficient layer of roast port and sliced ham, a noticeable but not excessive layer of swiss cheese, a single pickle sliced lengthwise on each sandwich halve, and an appropriate amount of mustard. All of the Cubano ingredients were present, but none stuck out amongst the others. It should come as no surprise that the sandwich also tasted great. Cubans are a sandwich that can definitely reach an elevated position of the sum being greater than the individual parts - and this sandwich easily was at this level. The roast pork was seasoned appropriately such that you could taste pork without it overpowering the rest of the sandwich. The bread (not pan cubano, but a good, hearty white bread) was able to retain its structure and integrity after meeting in the panini press. With the rest of the ingredients being appropriately proportioned, the sandwich hit that combination of sweet, salty, and porkiness (that's definitely not a real word...) that makes a Cubano truly great. I need to make a return trip to try a meatball sub at some point, but I can't wait to come back for another Cubano. You need to come here for a sandwich if you haven't yet - it is truly fantastic. Thanks for being a great part of Bettendorf Meatball's - I can't wait to come back!"
