Huddle House

"I love HH, but soon upon entering, I was rudely greeted by a server, woman behind counter glasses, and curly hair. I was patient despite her nervous and pacing demeanor. She complained and made fun of a customer who had just left. I sat patiently and waited and watched everybody behind the counter? I am a retired health and food inspector, and this place is filthy. Watching the cook, female cook with tall hair and no hair net, no gloves and touching everything, all the food, raw bacon, touches eggs in pan for ??, refrigerator handles, everything. The other servers touch the same handles, and then she finally washed her hands and blew her nose. with the same paper towels, she wiped her hands with and then went for the eggs. That's when I stood up and left. The food handling practices at this Huddle House are scary. The health department should take a close look at this facility. Are the food handlers certified? If so, a refresher is due. Just because the sign on the door says that the lack of help does not mean that you can drop your standards."

"Ah, Huddle House! The best diner in Fernandina Beach IMHO. I'm a breakfast fan so being able to get it any time rates highly with me. The food is generally awesome, & the few times it wasn't, I sent it back & got a replacement, freshly made. The staff is friendly, & the atmosphere reminds me of the diners of yesteryear. For those who are looking for a bargain, check out their $5.99 menu. I don't think you'll be disappointed."

"This place reminds you of a Waffle House, minus the cooks yelling at each other lol. They have all varieties of breakfast and lunch items to choose from such as French toast, waffles, and pancakes. I must admit, I wasn't impressed, maybe I went on a bad day for them. We arrived close to noon (1143 am to be exact) and there was a wait even though they had 2 tables empty, they just needed to clean off the tables. Soon as you get there, there's a sign on the door that says that they are short staff and hiring, but the waitresses that were there I could see were just lounging around & talking to each other. We signed their "sign in sheet" that was at the register and was asked to wait outside instead of inside along with another customer that came up behind us. I won't lie to you, I didn't feel welcomed in this establishment and probably should have left, but I've heard so much about Huddle House I wanted to try them out. One good thing about this visit, was the pleasant conversation with the other customer that had to wait outside with us. He questioned the "sign in" sheet saying he always comes there to eat every week and never had to sign something before. We waited 10 minutes before getting a table and then had to wait at least 30 minutes after ordering to get our food. More customers that came in after us, got their food way before us and when we did get it, it was luke warm and dry. It had been sitting on the counter and the waitress didn't bring it to us. When I say this place is like Waffle house, the grille in literally in plain site behind the bar, you can see the cook and the orders being made. The pancakes were fluffy looking, but dry, the scrambled eggs were wet in texture, the Waffle was good though just not hot, but warm like it was made and sitting on the counter. The food & atmosphere here is ok, but not great. If I visit another one, it won't be in Yulee. There's not alot of parking either. I feel Waffle House is better."

"The wait time was crazy just to get a seat. Once seated it took then about 5 minutes to put in a drink order. After ordering food, it took 30 minutes to get it out. Once my food was out it was cold. I wasn't offered a refill and when I did ask they never gave me one. I felt ignored and I'm a paying customer."

"Similar to waffle house only better in my opinion.. food was on point, had an early afternoon breakfast. Eggs were cooked to perfection.. waitresses were attentive and kind always with a smile. I will be back fod sure"
