About the Business
Welcome to St. Luke's Hospital Emergency Department
Located at 107 Page Street, New Bedford, Massachusetts, St. Luke’s Hospital is dedicated to providing exceptional, round-the-clock emergency care to our community. Our newly expanded Emergency Department (ED) is a cornerstone of healthcare for the South Coast, managing over 90,000 visits annually.
At St. Luke’s, we pride ourselves on our specialized pediatric care. In collaboration with Boston Children’s Hospital, our on-site team of pediatric physicians offers 24/7 inpatient care within a customized pediatric area of our ED. This ensures that the youngest members of our community receive the best possible care, right here in New Bedford. Our pediatric services are further supported by Tobey Hospital in Wareham and Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, where emergency physicians can consult remotely with Boston Children’s specialists. If necessary, children can be seamlessly transferred to St. Luke’s for further treatment.
Our partnership with Boston Children’s Hospital extends beyond on-site care. Through advanced technology, we facilitate remote consultations with pediatric specialists in Boston. This includes the ability to electronically send radiology images and other medical documents, ensuring comprehensive care. In critical situations, Boston Children’s ICU team can be virtually present in our ED, assisting in the management of seriously ill children with the aid of a video robot.

"Everyone I've had the displeasure of speaking to has been rude and unhelpful. Sad that this is where you go for help."
"Worst behaviour, we are waited for 2 hrs and no response from anyone, not at all considering anyone. I have never seen any emergency hospital like this"
"Worse hospital experience of my life. Woke up at 3:30 am with the worse back pain that was excruciating. Called 911 and got there and long story short they left me in a wheelchair in the lobby for 4 1/2 hours. Finally took me in a room, left me in the wheelchair, never asked how I was or if I needed anything. Dr came in and said you need an MRI and we don’t do them here. So went home with an inflammatory and a muscle relaxer which barely helps. Never ever will I go there again. Staff is extremely uncaring, rude and unprofessional. In total I was in the wheelchair for 7 1/2 hours with severe back pain"
"I was at the ER told the girl at desk I was stage 4 cancer. Also showed her my card given to my by oncologist in case I had to go to ER. She didn’t listen nor even look at the card. I was left in the waiting room with all kinds of sick people for 6 and half hours. I think I should have at least been put somewhere other than the same waiting room putting me at risk of catching something. Yes I was wearing a mask ( I was the only one who was). This was a horrible experience for me. It was like they didn’t care at all."
