The Barn At Melan Farm

"I attended a weeding at the Barn yesterday for my great nephew and it was spectacular. From the dinner rehearsal the day before, through the ceremony and reception, everything was on point. The grounds are gorgeous and the Barn was beautifully done. The food was good, beef was a bit salty but all (especially the green beans) was still delicious. The Barn is definitely a place I'd recommend to anyone for their wedding."

"Unfortunately we had a truly awful experience. My husband and I own a home in a quiet neighborhood but wanted to plan a short getaway at an Airbnb in a rural setting where we could unwind, relax, maybe do some fishing and spend time together. We’ve had nothing but pleasant stays using Airbnb prior to this experience. We considered a few locations but decided to book a stay at the “Barn at Melan Farm” pond house based on the description and great reviews. The listing described the property as private, quiet, secluded and relaxing. It also stated the pond house was available for Airbnb stays when the barn venue was not being used during the week. Sadly it was the complete opposite. We planned our stay from a Tuesday afternoon through Friday morning. The host, Natalie, let us know a little over 30 minutes before our Tuesday check in time that people would be present setting up for a weekend wedding the following day. It would have been appreciated to know this in advance as we likely would have reserved a stay at another location. This was relayed to us well after the cancellation period so there was not much we could do. There were several vehicles and people in and out all the following day until late at night. Our vehicles were blocked in at several points so we were unable to leave. People were walking all around the pond house and on the patio several times into the late evening. The evening we checked in, we were left with dirty dishes to scrub in order to prepare our dinner. When we reached out to Natalie about what was happening she didn’t seem to be very concerned. The following day was even more chaotic with people coming and going until late at night. Yet again, our vehicles were blocked in. For almost the entirety of our stay, the high level of activity and inconsideration continued. Oversights can happen and that’s understandable, however as a small business owner I cannot imagine treating customers the way we were treated. We spent a significant amount of money for a place that was definitely not as described. It honestly would have been far more relaxing to have just stayed at home. Airbnb informed us the host, Natalie, was not cooperative in trying to make the situation right after the fact. Based on her clear unprofessionalism, that’s not surprising."
