Dr. Basil M. Michaels, a highly esteemed plastic surgeon, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our community. Educated in New York City, Dr. Michaels holds an undergraduate degree in psychology from Columbia College and earned his medical degree from The College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University. His extensive training includes a residency in General Surgery at NYU-Bellevue, where he served as Chief Resident, and a research fellowship in microsurgery and wound healing at the Bogart Laboratory. Further honing his skills, Dr. Michaels completed the prestigious Brigham/Children’s/Harvard Plastic Surgery program in Boston.

Since founding the Berkshire Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery Center, Dr. Michaels has been committed to excellence, with our facility accredited by the American Association for the Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgical Facilities and the Federal Government. Certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Michaels specializes in cosmetic surgery, breast reconstruction, and skin cancer treatment.

Dr. Michaels also actively contributes to the medical community as the President of the Berkshire District of the Massachusetts Medical Society and serves on its board of trustees. Nationally, he represents Massachusetts at the State Council for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
