The Northern Strand Trail is a testament to community collaboration and dedication, with the recent 2020-2022 construction project by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs now complete. The trail features improved safety measures at all road crossings and new amenities, ensuring a seamless journey from Everett through Lynn. The Everett extension under Route 16 is now open, linking the Everett Community Growers segment at Water Street to the Mystic Riverfront and Encore Casino. While some final improvements may continue over the winter, the trail is fully operational and ready for your adventure.
Access Points and Parking
Enjoy easy access to the trail with many informal entry points and ample free parking available throughout. Key access locations include:
- Everett: Behind Gateway Center or Rivergreen Park, past Madeline English School, and into Malden behind Bell Rock Cemetery.
- Malden: Near Malden Square, offering two main access points.
- Revere: At the intersection of Lynn Street and Wesley Street, near the Revere line.
- Saugus: Where Salem Street meets North Marshall Street, near the Saugus line.

"One of the best bike paths on the North Shore! A decent length from end to end with plenty of spots to stop along the way in Malden, Everett, Saugus, Revere, or Lynn. You could get on this path and head to either Boston or the beach, depending on which direction you go in. For the ambitious, you can bike to Nahant Beach after getting off at this specific trailhead. A good path to bike, scooter, rollerblade, or just take a walk on."
