Thomas J Butler Memorial Park is part of the extensive Boston Parks and Recreation system, which is dedicated to creating and maintaining clean, green, safe, and accessible open spaces across more than 2,300 acres of parkland throughout the city. Our department proudly oversees 217 city parks, playgrounds, and athletic fields, along with two golf courses, 65 squares, 17 fountains, 75 game courts, and much more.

Visitors can enjoy a variety of free family-friendly activities, including outdoor movie nights and the lively Tito Puente Latin Music Series, which returns every July and August. In addition to recreation, we are also committed to the stewardship of Boston's urban forestry, managing approximately 125,000 trees within the historic Emerald Necklace and over 35,000 street trees citywide.
