Welcome to the Amtrak Police Department, located at 700 Atlantic Avenue, Boston, Massachusetts. As a national police force, we are dedicated to safeguarding the well-being of Amtrak's customers, employees, and stakeholders. Our team of over 500 sworn and civilian personnel operates across more than 30 locations in 46 states, executing a comprehensive array of security measures to ensure the safety of Amtrak's extensive network.

The Amtrak Police Department (APD) plays a crucial role in protecting over 30 million customers traveling to upwards of 500 destinations across the United States, the District of Columbia, and three Canadian provinces. With responsibility for more than 21,400 miles of routes, APD collaborates with federal, state, local, rail, and transit law enforcement agencies to maintain a visible police presence at the majority of Amtrak stations and along the rights-of-way.

Our services include obtaining copies of police reports, requesting security services for VIP movements, and submitting requests for Body-Worn Camera (BWC) footage. We also facilitate processes for initiating complaints, requesting armed travel authorization, and submitting commendations or letters of thanks for our officers. In case of crime, emergencies, or suspicious activities, we urge immediate reporting to the Amtrak Police Department.
