As part of the expansive Boston Parks and Recreation Department, Hayes Square exemplifies our commitment to creating and maintaining clean, green, and accessible open spaces across the city. Our department oversees an impressive 2,300 acres of parkland, including 217 city parks, playgrounds, and athletic fields, as well as historic cemeteries and urban wilds.

At Hayes Square, you can enjoy a serene environment amidst the hustle and bustle of Boston, surrounded by lush greenery and well-maintained facilities. Whether you're looking to relax, play, or participate in community events, our park is a perfect destination for individuals and families alike.

Throughout the summer, we host a variety of free activities and events, including family-favorite movie nights and the lively Tito Puente Latin Music Series. For those seeking unique experiences, don't miss the Alianza traveling beer garden, a collaborative effort with Roundhead Brewing Company and Fresh Food Generation.

Please note that due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, our Tree Removal and Parks and Recreation Commission hearings are currently being conducted online. We are dedicated to preserving our city's natural beauty, including the management of over 35,000 street trees and the historic Emerald Necklace.
