Union Park

Welcome to Union Park, a vibrant green oasis nestled in the heart of Boston, Massachusetts, located on Union Park Street. As part of the extensive network maintained by the Boston Parks and Recreation Department, Union Park is one of the 217 city parks that contribute to creating a clean, green, safe, and accessible environment across more than 2,300 acres of parkland throughout Boston.

Our department is dedicated to enhancing urban life by managing a diverse array of recreational spaces, including playgrounds, athletic fields, golf courses, squares, fountains, game courts, historic sites, and even urban wilds. We take pride in caring for approximately 125,000 trees, as well as over 35,000 street trees, ensuring that Boston remains lush and vibrant.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we have adapted by holding our Tree Removal and Parks and Recreation Commission hearings online, ensuring that community involvement and decision-making remain accessible.

Union Park is also part of the historic Emerald Necklace, a 1,100-acre chain of nine parks linked by parkways and waterways, offering a seamless connection with nature. This summer, enjoy a wide range of free events and activities for all ages, including the much-loved family movie nights in neighborhood parks and the lively Tito Puente Latin Music Series concerts in July and August.

For a unique experience, visit Alianza, a traveling beer garden created in partnership with Roundhead Brewing Company and Fresh Food Generation, bringing refreshing brews and delicious food to various city parks.
