"In 2016 I visited this place. Whenever I visit a city I am interested in knowing what of our history lives in it, in 2016 visiting #iBoston a city that is already an important part of our lives, I discovered this #History! The Argentine Government offered the statue of #Sarmiento in Boston in 1913. In 1972, Carlos Manuel Muñiz, Argentine ambassador in Washington, took up the project and obtained the approval of the city authorities, who gave up the space on Commonwealth Avenue, between Hereford Street and Gloucester Street, in the Back Bay neighborhood. A competition was held at the “Ernesto de la Cárcova” National School of Fine Arts in Buenos Aires, which was won by Yvette Compagnion, a student of the sculptors José Fioravanti and Juan Carlos Labourdette. The bronze and cement monument was inaugurated on May 21, 1973. In 1976, the then governor of #Massachusetts, Michael S. Dukakis, made special reference to the monument when establishing September 11 - the date of Sarmiento's death - as Teacher's Day in that State. The Boston monument was inaugurated on May 21, 1973. What pride!!! a memory of my stay in Boston!"
"Positive tribute and beautiful place where the fibula is located. I would have liked a better artistic work"
"It's good to see how the world recognizes the good Argentines and not the K-boys and so on."
"A statue of the former Argentina president."
"A beautiful place, a wonderful boulevard. A true pride as Argentina that so far from our homeland pays tribute to one of our heroes"
