Pagel Playground

Welcome to Pagel Playground, a vibrant oasis nestled in the heart of Boston at 365 Hyde Park Avenue. As part of the Boston Parks and Recreation Department, Pagel Playground is dedicated to creating and maintaining clean, green, safe, and accessible open spaces for everyone to enjoy. Our commitment extends across more than 2,300 acres of parkland throughout the city, including 217 city parks, playgrounds, athletic fields, and much more.

At Pagel Playground, you'll find a welcoming environment perfect for family outings, community gatherings, and outdoor adventures. As part of our ongoing efforts to enrich the community, we offer a variety of activities and events, such as free family movie nights and the popular Tito Puente Latin Music Series in July and August.

Explore the beauty and tranquility of the historic Emerald Necklace, a 1,100-acre chain of nine parks connected by scenic parkways and waterways. Whether you're looking to relax under the shade of one of our 125,000 trees, enjoy a picnic, or engage in recreational sports, Pagel Playground provides the perfect setting.

In collaboration with Roundhead Brewing Company and Fresh Food Generation, we also present Alianza, the first-ever traveling beer garden in partnership with the City of Boston, offering a unique blend of refreshment and community spirit.

Please note that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our Tree Removal and Parks and Recreation Commission hearings are currently held online. For those interested in tree removal, public hearings are required to ensure the preservation of our healthy trees.
