Welcome to Portsmouth Street Playground, a delightful oasis located at 35 Portsmouth Street in the vibrant city of Boston, Massachusetts. As part of the extensive network of parks managed by the Boston Parks and Recreation Department, our playground offers a clean, green, and safe space for families and individuals to enjoy the great outdoors.
Nestled in a city that boasts over 2,300 acres of parkland, Portsmouth Street Playground is a testament to Boston's commitment to maintaining accessible and well-kept open spaces. Our department oversees an impressive array of facilities, including 217 city parks, playgrounds, athletic fields, and much more, ensuring that every visitor has a place to relax, play, and connect with nature.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we're hosting Tree Removal and Parks and Recreation Commission hearings online to keep our community safe. Additionally, we're excited to bring back community favorites like free family movie nights in neighborhood parks and the vibrant Tito Puente Latin Music Series concerts in July and August.
This summer, explore the Boston Parks and Recreation Department's full schedule of free events and activities designed for all ages, promising endless outdoor fun. Don't miss the unique Alianza traveling beer garden, a collaboration with Roundhead Brewing Company and Fresh Food Generation, offering a refreshing experience in various city parks.

Reviews
"Playground and landscaping in need of immediate attention. The sports field and running track are well maintained."
"Can't imagine a single reason to bring me here for a second time. Play structures are in very poor shape, there's no slopes or stairs. No shade over swings. Not a great place to come with kids. Maybe if you're passing by and looking for a shaded bench to grab a meal."
"It's a nice neighborhood park with a quarter mile track. It is a good place to take in a softball game at night!"
"LOVE having this in the neighborhood. The park gets great use for sports, running, walks, kids outdoor playtime, and more!!! A gem for the community."
"This playground has a huge field and a good size basketball CT. But for children's the space is limited. It has some swings and climbers but does not have any structure for young toddlers besides two baby swings"
