Reviews
"This dentist is the best ever, and I have been to a number of dentists in the Boston area. He is thoughtful, kind, gentle. It is an art form for him. He takes his work and his patients dental care seriously. I have never minded going to see him, and have been going to see him for over 30 years now, after years of dread. He is a master in his art form. Thank YOU, De Andrus!"
"I have been seeing Dr. Andrus since 1975, before I was married. My wife and now my son are also his patients. That says it all. Read on only if you need details. In 1975 I lived north of Harvard Square so he was convenient by bicycle. For the past 30 years I have lived and worked in the suburbs and it has not always been convenient to drive 40 minutes or more. I continue to see him, because I trust him implicitly. When some of his prosthetics work fails (and they all do except for implants), he is not afraid to tell it like it is. He bluntly tells me that I got more life than expected out a particular repair. I recently had a bridge fail (actually the tooth under the bridge, not the appliance), and his comment was, "All bridges fail. No one does them anymore, because implants are superior. But we didn't have any choice at the time." I have never felt that he has done unnecessary work, or the more expensive option unless he thought it was called for. More than once he has given me the option of cheaper and less robust repair or longer lived expensive repair. Over the years, he has helped me with extensive dental work, including crowns and bridges. He has referred me to specialists that I consider exceptional with the same commitment to their patients as he has. One an oral surgeon calls every one of his patients the evening after surgery. Another an endodontist, saw me on short notice for an urgent general dentistry issue (not related to her work) because Dr. Andrus was unavailable. As I remember she didn't charge me for the visit. I have spent thousands of dollars on my rotten teeth. I don't believe anyone else could have done it better or for less money. He always gets me in on the same day if I am in pain. He never once in 40 years has kept me waiting. (I wish I could say I have never missed an appointment.) He has free off-street parking in Cambridge, which is pretty much unheard of. The only negative point is that he won't continue to practice forever. But he is still worth a visit if only to get a referral to another dentist."
"i went with a cavity, a little over a year ago.Im sure this is not a hard operation to take care of, but it seemed like he did a very decent job. I live around the corner, and will probably go see him again soon for a check up. (small office)"
