"If you’re looking for a great family beach this is it."
"Dirty, don't waste your time. Seaweed stinks up the entire beach, which attracts sand fleas. The sand fleas were impossible to escape, just as the stink was too. Cigarette butts everywhere. Im not against Marijuana but don't want it blowing in my face as i had ppl on each side of me passing pot around (approx 25-35 yards away). Witnessed several families coming and starting to set up and then packing up and leaving due to the stench and bugs..... don't waste your money on a sticker until they clean up the place! And I'm sure if the town reads this review, they'll deny me a beach sticker next year. As they've done to a good friend of mine who has been a Dartmouth resident all his life. But at this point, I will not go back unless they clean it up."
"*Edited after a pleasant discussion with the Town. Beautiful location. We accessed the beach from our boat and received pushback from the lifeguard on duty. Even after informing her of the Public Access rules, she threatened to call the police. We did as instructed (because who wants to ruin a gorgeous beach day?!), but later contacted the Town to discuss the matter. The Director was very responsive and pleasant to speak with. He confirmed that my understanding of the rules and regulations is consistent with his own and he stated that he will take the time to review everything with his Staff. We will definitely be back to visit this beautiful, well protected beach! This is a perfect location for swimming and Paddle-boarding (OUTSIDE of the swim area, for obvious safety reasons) when conditions are less than ideal in other less protected locations."
"I was a Life Guard here for 3 years. I grew up here. I know this beach. This is a beautiful sheltered beach. Far better than anything you will find near Boston. The most beautiful time is early in the morning on a calm wind or when there are passing showers and the ocean is quiet. If you can catch it when the wind direction is coming from the north you are in for a treat. The water will be serene. The islands will be so clearly visible you feel you could paddle out to them (on a very clear calm day you can even see Martha's Vineyard between two of the islands). The beach is warmest, but more crowded, towards the creek on the right. Rock bottom (last lifegaurd stand furthest left is the coolest). I have had shifts where I start my shift at rock bottom in a sweater, and then go shirtless at the creek during the same shift, and vice versa. Overall a wonderful family beach."
"Loved my day at the beach! Great experience from start to finish. The staff checking me into the park was helpful and courteous answering all my questions. The life guard even offered to help me with my bag of beach goodies and get my hat when the wind blew it away. Parking was plentiful and easy. Handicapped bathrooms. They offer special beach wheelchairs. I have been blessed to just drive up and they were available for my mother to use. I can't vouch they are always there so I would advise calling ahead to make sure the special wheelchairs are there."
