"I rented a car from Boston airport as i was visiting my ailing aunt. To extend the rental by a day they made me go to the rental place at the airport. I had to drive an hour each way and stand in line for two hrs to get the extension. Its mind boggling that i had to spend more than fours to get the extension. They would not do it over the phone or online. I am traveling to visit an ailing relative and every moment is precious. But i had to waste this much time just for an extension that I should have ben able to over the phone or online. I have been renting cars for 25 yrs and never had experienced such poor service. The extension was not even cheap, although they claimed that there is a price drop which made the lines and the wait so long. I certainly will not use Thrifty again, even if they are cheaper than every other company."
"My electric car rental (don't ever rent one btw) from the airport is not taking a charge from any charging station (giving me a message that it can't charge because the cord isn't inserted fully--and it is)... Anyway, Thrifty support says exchange it at another Thrifty location but this place isn't answering the phone even though it's still during open hours. I'd avoid Thrifty car rentals in the Boston area for sure."
"Do not rent from here, they will waste your time. Like other reviewers, I went to this location to return a car during normal posted business hours but it was closed -- there was a sign on the door saying to go to a different location. Customer support said on the phone that the office should not be closed. Furthermore, the door for the office was open and left ajar. Whatever employee who was supposed to be at the office that day failed to close the door. The deadbolt had been turned but it was not latched. Anyone could have walked in."
"I picked up a car here and it was fine. When I tried to return it, the office was closed. There was no sign. The hotel clerk next door explained that the thrifty clerk showed up for an hour and then closed up and wouldn't be returning. I called thrifty and the representative didn't believe that this location was closed until they tried calling. I had to return in Boston which ate up another 90 minutes of my day. Don't rent cars here. The location isn't staffed consistently and the posted hours on thriftys website and Google maps are not correct. Your time is too valuable to waste with these clowns."
"Worst car rental ever, here's my experience. I'm a foreigner travelling in the US. I booked a car at that location via Expedia, paid for everything in advance. First thing they ask me is if I have a credit card: I say no, I have a debit card (credit cards aren't common in my country). They tell me that means they'll need to DOWNGRADE me, give me a worse car than the one I ordered and paid for. And that was just the start... Then they tell me they'll need to take a $500 deposit on my debit card. I tell them fine, I run my card through the magnetic strip but it gets declined for some reason... So they tell me: sorry sir, we can't give you a car. So I ask them to reimburse me. But they won't do that either: they tell me they can't reimburse me, I need to try my luck with Expedia. After I left the store, extremely frustrated, I contact my bank to figure out why my card got declined. Turns out I had a $400 limit for magnetic strip payments. I ask my bank to increase the limit, which they do. I then go back to the store and tell them to retry to get the $500 from my card. The response: sorry, company policy, we can only try once every 24 hours. Utterly ridiculous! So here I am: I have a car I booked and paid for in full, a debit card that works from which they can get a $500 deposit but for some incomprehensible reason they won't give me the car. And they won't reimburse me either for what I paid for. This is basically a scam. And now, not only do I NOT have the car I counted on for my trip in the US but I still have to pay for it... Absolutely terrible car rental place, avoid at all costs!"
