"Top notch bakery steeped in history. If you love bread like I do then this place is a must visit when in San Fran. It gets pretty busy so def try to get here early. If not there is plenty of outdoor seating but beware of pigeons and seagulls. There is also a sit down restaurant on the upper level as well as a coffee shop on the main level. No restrooms however, you need to visit the clam chowder place nearby. OK, now let's get to the food. Their sandwiches were simply put, really good! It's the bread obviously. We got their Italian Classico sandwich and California veggie. They also serve pizzas and bread bowls. They easily put some "bread centric" establishments to shame."
"If you are a sucker for bread, then you might as well call this place heaven for you, lol. This place is fantastic. The vibe was great, seeing the bread transported in their little mini basket trolley on the ceiling. They sell a lot of cool souvenirs and, of course, bread, lol, and this place is located in the heart of Fisherman's Wharf. Minutes away from a lot of fantastic attractions. On this day, I went with Crab Benedict and some clam chowder on sourdough bread. The service took about 10 minutes to get my order, so I knew my breakfast was fresh. It was my first time having a crab in an Eggs Benedict, but it wasn't too bad; it was pretty delicious. The clam chowder was also tasty, but the main event was eating that bread after you finished the soup! Super flavorful. If you are in town, come check this place out. It won't disappoint."
"Food was very good overall. I got the clam chowder - it was good, but I do think there wasn't much clam in it. My husband got the sourdough pizza and he really enjoyed it! The sourdough bread was very good and fresh. Prices were okay, but it's a little higher in general since it's very touristy. Overall, nice place in generally, very lively and busy, and good food. I do wish there was more clam, and I wish they didn't run out of the crab chowder!"
"clam chowder is just average it has a lot of potatoes but hardly visible clams. tried also one of the wharf selections, the dungeness crab melt sandwich and it tasted ordinary cafe sandwich , for $20.00 I don’t think it’s worth it. the sandwich has hardly any filling in it."
"Atmosphere was amazing. Definitely worth a try when you’re in the area. Ordered a sourdough chowder bowl and it was tasty. I thought the chowder had more potatoes than it did clam but other than that, really tasty. Sourdough is really worth a try. They also have really cute artisan breads shaped like bears, crabs, and flowers, as well as some pastries and Peete’s coffee."
