"Great brunch options! I had a solid breakfast plate. I love the seating options too - casual yet stylish high top seating with airy bright natural light at atmosphere. Their actual preparation of the simple breakfast platter was impressive for the great price - I hate when fancy brunch places charge a ton for simple egg plates so I appreciate that they priced it affordably! Perfectly crispy bacon, tasty premium artisanal toast, and crispy home fries were just all well made and the service was super friendly. The manager also came by to check in and was clearly taking great care of the staff and customers. I didn’t have high expectations because it seemed like they just started offering brunch but I’m so glad to stop in when I walked by. Definitely stop by and try Bar 49!"

"First off the service is amazing! The setting is comfortable and inviting, and then the wine and food was amazing. I meant to stop in for a quick drink and ended up staying longer than anticipated. The team was amazing, so kind and great to talk to. Fish and chips, cheese plate and Caesar salad were delicious. The bubbles and Sauvignon blanc were also tasty. I’m coming back again tomorrow!! Finally a great neighborhood spot!!!"

"So excited to have a new place open in the Castro. Now they just opened and Sunday lunch is certainly not rush hour, admittedly, but the utterly ambivalent service is not the way to win return customers. After sitting down at our table (there were six other people in the place) I waited for ten minutes and then interrupted the guy behind the bar from his phone to ask if I could order from him. He seemed annoyed but took my order which further irritated him when I didn’t under the rules of ordering sliders — you have to order two of the same kind, in case you make my mistake and want to sample a wider range of offerings. We finished our meal and walked out and no one even looked up as we left. The interior updates are tasteful and cool and the place has a good vibe for sure, it would just be nice if it felt like they actually cared if you were there."
