Welcome to the Long Beach Police Academy, located at 7290 Carson Boulevard, Long Beach, California. As a pivotal component of the Long Beach Police Department, our Training Division is committed to excellence in law enforcement education and professional development.

Our comprehensive 27-week Basic Academy is meticulously designed to train and prepare police recruits for a successful career in law enforcement. Beyond initial training, we provide ongoing professional development for police officers, ensuring they meet and exceed the Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) minimum requirements, as well as legislative and OSHA mandates.

Our dedicated team oversees a wide array of training programs, including in-service training, human relations and diversity training, and the management of manuals and orders. We are also responsible for recruitment, conducting thorough background investigations for police officer recruits, civilian employees, volunteers, and Long Beach Firefighter recruits.
