"This was the first time I had taken this train and i picked it up at San Gabriel Blvd and Lincoln. It’s kinda tricky to find. I went to the end and onto the LA River for a bit before I headed back. At San Gabriel and Lincoln, it’s a little tricky to pick up the trail because it’s up and across the street. Once you’re in the general vicinity, it’s easy to spot. There is also a small conjoining bike trail from the San Gabriel River. As for the trail itself, heading southwest, it wasn’t very crowded and not too many homeless. The quality of the trail wasn’t the best but very manageable. I like this trail because it’s nice and wide, making side by side riding easier. Heading north, once I made my way into the Whittier narrows section, there was a huge homeless presence but the wildlife was very pleasant. Going by the airport was very cool but that’s where I ended my ride."
"Nice flat trail good for a long run or bike ride. No shade do wear a hat and sunscreen. Eventually Rio Hondo joins the Los Angeles rivers and runs to Long Beach. In the other direction it goes towards Whittier Narrows along neighborhoods and industrial sites. Some parks next to the dry cement river bed where families can enjoy a picnic and some shade to escape LA summer heat. Good views of the LA basin mountain skylines to the north east."
