About the Business
Welcome to Miracle on 4th Street Park, a charming oasis nestled in the heart of Long Beach, California, located at 1518 East 4th Street. As the city's pioneering mini-park, it represents a successful initiative to create green spaces in areas lacking recreational facilities. Born from a collaborative effort between the city, Leadership Long Beach, and the local community, this park is a testament to the power of community spirit and innovation.
Established in November 2000, Miracle on 4th Street Park was developed through the dedication of the Leadership Long Beach class of 2000, who engaged the community through public meetings, fundraising, and a park-naming contest at Burbank Elementary School. With contributions from the Job Corps and the Conservation Corps of Long Beach, the park was transformed into a vibrant space featuring a playground, bench seating, lush turf, a stunning mural, and diverse landscaping.
In 2004, the city purchased the site, ensuring its continued availability for public enjoyment. The park's unique design and community-focused approach earned it a Program Excellence Award from the National Recreation and Park Association, highlighting the successful collaboration between public and private entities.
Come and experience the Miracle on 4th Street Park, where community, creativity, and nature come together to create a serene and welcoming environment for all. For more information, contact Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine at 2760 N. Studebaker Rd., Long Beach, CA 90815-1697.

Reviews
"Filthy drunk dude was hanging out when we got there with our daughter, made a show of picking up a couple scraps of garbage before wishing us a happy Cinco de Mayo, which was festive of him. Then a middle-aged man sat on the bench near the entrance and began piteously sobbing at the sky. A fine time was had by all"
"The park is clearly under maintenance, it is obvious that the homeless have invaded the park making it unsafe and hazardous for kids. I would not recommend this park to any parent or individual."
"I moved to this area 4 years ago. I've never seen kids playing here because this tiny park attracts a hostile and potentially violent homeless population, drug use, and just shady stuff. I was looking for a park within walking distance from my house and this is it. I've been told by parents that they don't feel safe with their children playing there. This is a cute little park. Its a shame the City of Long Beach doesn't take better care of this potential neighborhood gem. Every time I've tried, I've been harassed by homeless people, some, dangerous characters frequent this place."
"Its a nicely tended park. Just be aware that there are often homeless persons hanging out. Not a threat, but sometimes not conducive to allowing children to play."
"The park itself has cleaned up better than it use to be, but the playground itself is tiny, old and worn-out. A larger playground would be better and swings would be a nice addition. To me it looks like it's a dog park."
