Officer Daryle W. Black Memorial Park 2023 Pasadena Avenue, Long Beach, CA 90806
About the Business
Welcome to Officer Daryle W. Black Memorial Park, a serene and meaningful green space nestled in the heart of Long Beach, California. Located at 2023 Pasadena Avenue, this park stands as a tribute to Officer Daryle W. Black, who bravely served the community and was tragically lost in the line of duty on April 29, 2000.
Thanks to the concerted efforts of City Councilwoman Laura Richardson, the Central Neighborhood Advisory Committee, and local community groups, a once-neglected .1-acre lot has been transformed into a vibrant community park. This project, valued at $200,000, was funded through a collaboration between the Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine, the Long Beach Redevelopment Agency, and other local funds.
The park offers a peaceful retreat with its lush grass, thoughtfully designed landscaping, and essential amenities, including lighting, fencing, a playground for children, picnic tables and benches for gatherings, and a refreshing water fountain. This welcoming space replaces a dilapidated 12-unit apartment complex, breathing new life into the neighborhood Officer Black once patrolled and positively impacted.
Dedicated in the summer of 2005, Officer Daryle W. Black Memorial Park is more than just a park; it is a testament to the courage and dedication of Officer Black and a symbol of community spirit and renewal. We invite you to visit, relax, and reflect in this beautiful tribute to a local hero.

Reviews
"Clean safe and very nice park in the center of the neighborhood great to take the kids out for some outdoor play"
"This park was created in memory of my brother, Daryle Black, a Long Beach Police officer killed in the line of duty on April 30th 2000. His love to service to the community and to reach the kids (ALL kids) was his passion so I pray that kids/families that do come here are blessed."
"Nice little park next to the church only bad thing is lot of kids teenage kids go there to smoke"
