"Took the family on a bike ride on the Bixby bike trail over the bridge today. Totally deserves its high ranking. Awesome view of Long Beach Harbor & all the container ships being loaded & unloaded. Kids loved it. Really cool trail to exercise & take in the view!"
"Great views !"
"It wasn't open for the entire hike"
"Very well made with wide lanes and benches at the top of the bridge."
"Took my first walk along the newly opened International Bridge pedestrian/bike path. The views of the Port of Long Beach from the path are REALLY impressive. This is a great walk. The incline is a decent work out but not too steep for my boyfriend who has a bum knee. Great for intermediate bicycle riders. Only got 1/3rd of the way across the bridge as one of the gates was locked. The gates don't list hours of operation for the path so I don't know how to tell in advance when the path is fully open and when it is not. I hope Long Beach Unified makes this walk a field trip for elementary kids because from the top of the bridge the teacher could show them exactly how The Port Of Long Beach works. There are benches to sit on and observe the sunset and there are educational panels at the benches. While there is an actual, pedestrian path along with the bike path, I personally would not take a person in a wheelchair on this path even though it is technically possible. Because the wheelchair would take up the entire path. The pedestrian lane is only ONE lane while the bike lane is two lanes going in opposite directions. This means that if the wheelchair is headed towards Terminal Island and other pedestrians are headed towards Ocean Ave, one of these sets of people is going to have to go around the other into the bike lane. So just be aware of this."
