"They are very cooperative and are trying to improve juvenile delinquent behavior."
"I have lived here for 50 years and in all that time i have never seen drivers so out of control; speeders ( Rosecrans with cars flying at 60mph at least!) and cars not stopping for pedestrians in crosswalks. Where is the police? They used to be all over the city."
"I want to thank your department for being so professional in your dealings w/people. I’ve watched you two separate times handle difficult situations w/patience and dignity—when you were being shown the opposite. You certainly deserve our respect and gratitude for the hard work you do. Stay safe."
"Literally had a police officer just now force my garage door open as it was closing because he claimed that I ran a stop sign. He then said that he can take me into jail for running the sign and drinking and driving, I said test my bac and I mentioned that my house camera shows everything to which he then said for me to have a good night and they left. Living in Manhattan beach AND on the strand I would have never thought that I'd ever encounter someone forcing my garage door open and threatening me like that. That's breaking and entering of a private residence and for what? An accusation of a moving violation? This is scary... Police will make up whatever they want to warrant an arrest, break and enter private property for supposedly running a stop sign... I thought I was supposed to feel safe and protected in my neighborhood... Once again the thanks goes to security cameras, otherwise who knows what they would have done to me. I'm truly terrified"
"I am glad that they are laying off tons of officers. Clearly doing so because they have NOTHING better to do than stand around and hand out traffic tickets. Recently I was ticketed for going over 10 miles the speed limit and I was merely trying to take over another car by speeding up. The officer waited there for his chance to ticket someone along Rosecrans heading east to Sepulveda and caught me going 50mph when the speed limit is 40. I could be going way over the speed limit and that warranted a ticket but 10 miles over???!!!! and I paid $250 for that ticket!!! Recently hawthorne police ticketed me for listening to a voicemail message on my cellphone and I paid $170, a total 400 bill. I don't even spend that much on clothes! 4 days of hard earned labor gone in a flash!! plus now I have one point. I'm not complaining but if they've got NOTHING better to do than stand around giving people tickets for petty reasons while someone else is getting away with real crimes like homicides and burglary, then they don't need more police officers!"
