"Amazing right here in our beautiful Ventura. Great parking, good trail maps, all trails signed very well. Lots of hikes to choose from. Bikes (human powered) are welcome. Some trails are dog friendly. Nice docents and volunteers. We did the Farr Family Trail. Challenging and a workout! We will be back to do more. And we are 66 & 71! This place is special!!"
"Good, clean hiking trails. Courteous hikers. Some of the trails are shared with the bikers. Great views of the beach at the top of the trails. Wear sunscreens and bring plenty of water on hot days since there's not many shaded areas."
"One of my go to hiking spots in Ventura. It has several trails at different difficulty levels. Trails for mountain biking, trails for kids, trails for someone looking for a decent challenge. Great views of Ventura. It is at its peak during the spring with lots of wildflowers, birds, bees and butterflies. I’ve come across the occasional rattle snake so just be aware when hiking on hot days. There isn’t a ton of shade so make sure to bring lots of water. Ther are a good handful of old oak trees down in the canyon that offer a cooler stroll."
"Wonderful hike. The purple lupins were shoulder height and the fragrance was otherworldly. There are lots of great trails. Mountain bikes and dogs are allowed. Everyone we encountered was very courteous and kind. The tail was well marked and maintained."
"As a hiker, I was disappointed that the main trail (dirt road) is still closed at 1.5 miles from the parking lot, so that people cannot hike to the vista point at the top of Long Canyon. The closure makes sense for mountain biking, but why for hiking? a short detour path could be put in place for hikers, a good use of volunteers’ effort. Anyway, this location is a wasted of time if you’re interested in a moderate-strenuous hike. One the plus side, and reason for the one star, are the wildflowers."
