"For approximately two weeks now, I’ve been trying to call to make an appointment. I want to use PIH as it has all of my health records, but this specific department is so myopic in its requirements to schedule an appointment, it makes it almost completely impossible. The first time I called I requested to schedule an appointment, they refused to schedule the appointment stating that I needed a referral from my doctor. The following day I asked my doctor to create a referral so that I can schedule an appointment. The doctor spent the time and created the referral and sent it to my inbox. I then called the endocrinology department here, stating I now have a referral that I can send to them, and they still refused to schedule the appointment. They said not only do we need a referral, we need your doctor to fax it to us directly. That irritated me because the last call did not state the specific requirement. I called my doctor again, and repeat the information the endocrinology department gave me and they go and fax the referral directly to the PIH endocrinology department, and my doctor even gave a status of when it was faxed and how it was faxed and with what extension and attn. I gave it two days, and I called the endocrinology department again, stating that my doctor sent in the referral, with the proper intentions and proper number, and the endocrinology department said they didn’t receive anything. It was at that point I got really mad, I even had proof that it was sent to them and they just have not done anything about it. I take my health very seriously, and when doctors clinics play stupid games like this it just irritates me. After proving to them that it was indeed sent over and they just ignored it, they said they were just call me back same day with updates, it’s been four days and there has been no update. This place is a joke. If I don’t hear anything on Tuesday, I’m taking action. How can a place be this tone deaf and inconsiderate? I’m doing everything right and yet, for them, it’s not enough or they don’t care. UPDATE (11/04/2022): waited two weeks in case the referral took time to matriculate through their system. I asked for a callback, they never called back. They claimed to have never received the referral. I have actual receipt evidence from my primary care that it was successfully faxed over and received on their end, so they clearly lost it and didn’t want to admit it, they said rudely, “Well we received hundreds a day”, I told them I’ll be seeing another doctor. I have waited five weeks, done exactly as they said and nothing happened and yet they still didn’t do anything. Nobody should have to jump through these many hoops and deal with such incredibly poor management. I’m so mad that a well known hospital such as PIH has such an incredibly poor and mismanaged. Endocrinology department. They need to have this department looked at and reassessed."
