"I’ve been trying to reach the intake department for the past month and they do not return or answer my calls"
"Not the greatest experience, especially if you’re not a certain ethnicity or demographic. Needless to say, I regret not reporting and grievances at the time. Since this organization is pretty much stationed in the East LA areas with a large Hispanic population and majority of the case workers are hispanic, there’s a negligence and bias against African American, Caucasian and Asian clients. I’ve witness and experienced this as a client. I remember having a disagreement with an hispanic client while living in a shelter. This lady was the aggressor and called the police on me unwanted and this same resident had multiple instances of acting as an aggressor and causing problems with other residents. I never touched her, never threatened her, I just spoke up for myself. The police left and even didn’t understand why this lady called them. The very next day, my case manager from whole child came to the shelter and tried to evict me and send me to a shelter in Boyle Heights of all places where the gangs have been known to terrorize African Americans. No disciplinary actions for the hispanic lady who wasn’t even a citizen might I add. After two months they exited me and my child out the program which was a blessing in disguise. But at that time I was put back in a position of being homeless. YET the other residents who some who been there for A YEAR were allowed to stay. I was quiet and didn’t bother anyone. The blessing is I wound up getting a job, with referral of a friend. I’m now making a GREAT salary and finishing up my masters degree and I have a lovely place to stay. This organization and biased. If you have any issues or the same situation as me, don’t hesitate to report. They will not help you if you don’t look like them."
"This place is a scam. They only take in people for the money. They do not help...they actually make things worse. Then they discard the people when they can't make anymore money off of us. We are just a number to them and not humans...they make you feel subhuman and worthless. There are a couple staff members who are great but as for the rest...they should have never entered this field or career. They act like they hate people and their jobs. They do nothing for most people. I could say so much but I'll save it for the letter I will be writing to the governor, city counsel, media and whoever else that will listen. Things they put helpless woman and children through here are disgusting. This place should be accountable for things they do and don't do. I'm doing this not only just for myself but for also the many vulnerable families coming here for hope. Nothing changes because there is no accountability anymore."
"I wish I could give this organization a zero. Their organization lacks the ability to give accurate information. I call them and the person who answered the phones said they took my insurance, then when the referral from the school was set the call and said sorry but we do not take you insurance. At which time I told the that they needed to improve the training they gave their staff. They then call me an d left a message about the referral. I call the back and a day later they called. Carisa say she had to look at the referral but then her supervisor got on the phone and told me, how can we help you since we already told you that we do not take you insurance. People on the field of helping those in an already stressful situation should not add to the problem. Their COO or CEO need to take a good hold of their company and make sure their people do not cause harm. If need be they should have a script that they read to potential clients. No wonder their main source of business is Med-I-cal. Do not waste you time with these people, they have no clue as to what they are doing."
