"my first visit here was because doctors at watsonville community couldn’t find out what was wrong with me and why my stomach was in so much pain. my stomach pain is excruciating so i thought i should get a second opinion here at dominican. the wait wasnt so bad, but then i got called to the back where a Triage nurse made disgusted and confused faces at me describing my symptoms almost as if she thought i was lying as well as becoming frustrated with me for not memorizing the names of medications i was prescribed at WCH. she scolded me and said “learn the names of your medications, if i tell you to take a random pill would you just trust me and take it?” i felt like i was just bothering her with my presence. she dismissed my excruciating pain as gastritis and said there’s absolutely nothing she could do for me. i began to cry out of frustration and i gave up on trying to get help. ive never been treated this way by a triage nurse so this experience is extremely disappointing and disgusting. these are the people who are supposed to nurse you back to health and yet they seem to lack any empathy. she might as well have just shot me in the back of the head. WCH might have a longer wait, but atleast the triage nurses there dont make me feel like vermin."
"Waste of time and money. Took my partner to the ER and was told we would be helped. Several hours and several hundred dollars later we were told they couldn’t provide any diagnosis or treatment and were referred to an external clinic. Upon arriving there, we were told by the clinic that they do not accept ER referrals and that Dominican “needs to stop sending people here”. What a mess."
"This place is a joke! It's terrifying. I've been to many hospitals and this is the worst experience ever. Maybe there should be more staff, at least with some bedside manner skills. I would rather have my foot cut off with a dull hack saw than ever return here again. Seriously, take an 8-hour wait!"
"At 4am PST on 05/10/2024, I brought my husband here for severe back pain after he threw his back out. He was having numbness and sharp pain shooting down his legs and could barely walk. He was given an Ibroprofen and, an Xray nearly an hour after we arrived then, we were put back into the lobby where he would kneel over a chair as the most comfortable position he could find for the next 3 HOURS! The best thing that could have been done was for him to have a bed to lie flat on to alleviate the pressure on his spine and they had so many beds to offer yet, didn’t. The front desk patient representatives were on their personal phones a majority of the time. Nadia specifically was terrible to talk to. I led with kindness and what was reciprocated was only indifference and, lack of empathy. She was snappy when I asked for next steps and basic questions about my husband’s care because I interrupted her watching personal stuff on her phone; she went back to eating a bag of Doritos as if I didn’t exist. The kindest person on the night staff were Luke and the man cleaning who offered kind words and, a pillow for my husband. The morning shift change brought in Karen, Linda, Luke again, and a wonderful change of demeanor. They got us out as soon as they could, read us his results, and treated my husband with such empathy. I am very thankful to have had them for his care even just for a moment. We were not at all angry about the wait. What I was angry at was the complete lack of basic kindness and, total indifference that I was met with by Nadia. Her phone and snacking were more important than anything else. Kindness goes a long way especially when you work with such vulnerable people. I hope she can remember that in the future and, I hope in her moments of need or pain, she receives the kindness she so lacked for us."
"I went in at 3am for an asthma attack. My breathing was tight and severe. The woman at the front desk recognized this right away and fast forwarded me to vitals. In minutes I was in room. In another few minutes I saw a very friendly Dr. and in minutes after that, I was receiving a breathing treatment from a very friendly nurse. I almost didn’t come here due to some bad reviews, but am SO glad I did! Everyone was super friendly and helpful. I was out with a clear set of lungs and so grateful for everyone’s help. The facilities were adequate for my needs and seemed clean enough."
