"I went to see Dr. Hohn for a clear case of clavicle reduction surgery. In the process it was discovered that the upper humerus had low blood flow that developed into important but hard to diagnose necrosis. I feel it was nothing short of a miracle that he was able to make that diagnosis and provide treatment during the same surgery. His confidence and expertise on that issue gave me reassurance that everything would work out. That was two years ago and not only has everything worked out but my arm has been steadily improving to the point where it’s 100% or more of what it was prior to the injury. "I went to see Dr Hohn on a referral from my doctor when I was having ongoing mild shoulder pain several years ago. Dr Hohn did X-rays and sent me to physical therapy. After several months, it was slightly worse. I got an MRI and he recommended surgery for calcium on my tendon. I asked about a cortisone shot and he said it he could do it but didn’t think it would help. I didn’t do it. Because the pain wasn’t that bad, surgery seemed a little extreme. Fast forward a few months and the pain was getting a little worse and then I woke up one morning in excruciating pain. Tried calling him. I was told he would get back to me within 30 minutes. No response. Ended up at urgent care twice, got pain meds and a cortisone shot before I was finally able to see him 5 days later. He was a little too casual and didn’t seem sympathetic about how much pain I was in. They took a new X-rays during the visit even though I couldn’t move my arm into any of the three positions for the X-rays. After reviewing them he just wanted to schedule surgery. Day 7 the pain was tolerable enough I scheduled a 2nd opinion on Monterey. That doctor said I had a classic case of frozen shoulder and said I just needed a cortisone shot in the right location and I should be completely better within 6-18 months. Guess what, she was 100% right! That was two years ago, and within about 8 months, I was back to normal. She also looked at the same MRI report and had no idea why surgery would have been recommended. I had heard from others that he pushes surgery, so I am so thankful I got a second opinion."
