"Come on people the CHP does great work. Quit complaining. They work 24 hours a day seven days a week. This is not an easy job. You may not like getting a ticket so quit speeding and TAILGATING. When you need them they are there. You will need them someday and be thankful when they come."
"Went in today to make a report for a hit & run auto accident and met with desk cop Engull. During my interaction with him he seemed very uninterested and pre occupied with his upcoming lunch break. When I explained to him that the HWY Patrol didn't respond to my incident but, MONTE RIO Fire did and they were super helpful. He got really defensive and started mansplaining why they were too busy to arrive at the scene. He was very dull & spoke like he was reading from a script & responded in the same canned responses throughout our interaction. Desk cop Engull has a really hard time listening and showing empathy he may need some additional training on these basic human skills to actually provide service to the public & surrounding communities of Sonoma county."
"In my 11 years of driving I have never received any tickets except for yesterday, when I got a ticket for driving in the carpool lane. I drive rarely and yesterday at around 3-20 I got on the highway in San Rafael where the carpool lane kicks in at 4-30. Then I crossed to the Sonoma county line 10 minutes later, where the lane kicks in at 3pm. I didn't see the new time and I don't quite understand how it can be that the fee is close to $500 for such a terrible "violation". Frankly, I am upset: they change the time at their discretion and then the hwy patrol cop drives around trying to catch someone who forgot to check in with the sign within 10 minutes of getting on the hwy. Honest mistake on my end - but is it equal to 35 hours of work of someone who earns $15/hr? I understand that the order must be enforced, but such draconian measures don't breed anything but resentment to the police - and government - from citizens who still have respect for the institution and a flawless traffic record and otherwise. We had a shootout in front of our windows on College avenue in SR a few weeks ago - my neighborhood is not safe to walk around - and I have to spend $500 for missing the sign."
"I was broke down on the highway recently separated from my wife and living in my vehicle with what little I had left of my life. The officers were kind and understanding while I attempted to do the repair roadside. Very personable but straight forward. Thank you Scott, I didn't catch your last name Officer but you have no idea how much I appreciate everything you did. Thank you sir."
"I am SO happy with the Sonoma County CHP today. I did the dumbest thing and left my cell phone on the hood of my car. I was driving down the freeway and it went flying off, and I was like, OMG! I tried to see if I could drive back to see it or anywhere safe to walk but it was SO dangerous, and I could not see my phone. When I got home I located the phone on line and saw that it was at the edge of the freeway, side of road out of traffic but at center divide. Impossible to get. I called CHP and gave dispatch all info. She said it's at officer's discretion if they had time or ability to check for phone . I assumed if I was lucky, I 'd get a call from an officer and we'd get samsung to make the audible scream to find my phone. Surprise, surprise, the dispatch called me back to say they actually had my phone and where could I meet them to get it. They found and got it so easily without my even having to do that scream! Then the officer offered to drive all the way to my house and deliver it to my door. Wow! I was impressed and VERY thankful. AND, surprisingly, my phone had no new cracks (one old one, still remained). and worked of course. Wow. Only regret is I didn't get officer's name. There was kind of a funny pause like he saw how thankful I was and yet I didn't know what to do. I said can I tip you? Of course not, silly. I should've got his name though. Thank you Sonoma County CHP!!! :)"
