Welcome to Tomales Bay Trailhead, your gateway to the breathtaking natural beauty of Point Reyes National Seashore, located at Tomales Bay Trail, Point Reyes Station, California. Steeped in rich cultural history, the Seashore preserves stories and interactions of various cultures over thousands of years. Whether you're here to hike our seemingly endless trails, explore the diverse habitats, or simply unwind in nature's embrace, Point Reyes awaits your exploration. Begin your journey at one of our three visitor centers, where you can grab maps, learn about the park, and plan your visit with our knowledgeable staff.

Please note that parking at Drakes Beach will be very limited during the contest on Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 9 am to 3:30 pm. For those interested in whale watching, gray whales migrate past Point Reyes from December through May and are often visible from the Lighthouse and Chimney Rock areas.

Our park boasts approximately 80 miles of shoreline, including numerous sandy beaches for you to explore. For the adventurous, a 13-mile minimum round-trip hike is required to safely visit the stunning coastal waterfall. Remember to respect the Wilderness and adhere to Leave No Trace principles.

Pet owners are welcome, but please keep pets on a 6-foot or shorter leash, as they are allowed on only a few trails and beaches. For those interested in the tule elk, check out our FAQ on the Tomales Point area.
