Reviews of Schooner Gulch State Beach
"If you're coming here to see the bowling balls plan better than I did. You have to be here at low tide otherwise you won't see a thing. It's otherwise a fun beach to walk on and climb on the rocks"
"Great experience! The trail is beautiful and easy to walk to get to this beach (adjacent to Bowling Ball beach). The rock formations are so interesting and the waves were crashing pretty good!"
"Great place to explore hike and have fun on the beach."
"The first 'gulch' I have ever seen. There are some sexy trails by the state Beach, one of which leads to the famous Bowling Ball beach. Met some friendly dogs in the shaded parts of the trail. Also, was afraid a little as we were kind of alone there during sunset, on a weekday. Overall, this spot did worth for having a quick stop, and the tide canal is a real treat you will get after reaching there."
"Secluded and well worth the stop off Hwy 101. The adventurous type can venture up the Northern bluffs over to Bowling Beach; check your tide tables for the best time to visit. Note there are stinging nettle plants along the trail - watch those bare legs! If you are coming Northbound, be careful swinging into the parking area; Southbound traffic has a blind hill on approach."
