"I have been here once years ago. There are some interesting citizens of the local areas laid to rest here. I drove by today to visit the grave of a member of the posse that helped capture the Sarasota Vigilante Association. The gate was locked with a combination lock and inside the fence is a no trespassing sign. This cemetery to my knowledge is not privately owned and should be made available to those who want to visit and pay their respects. At least list a phone number to call to be let in for a short while."
"This beautiful eternal resting place is not one bit in a sketchy neighborhood. It is near the manatee river. It is in a state of neglect because the manatee county commissioners are a confederacy of dunces."
"It’s locked with a No Trespassing sign. What a waste of an historical site. It looks fabulous from the outside. If there’s a way in if a time in, I’d like to know."
"Beautiful historic cemetery but in a bit of a sketchy neighborhood"
"This plot was donated by Major Alden Joseph Adams to the village of Manatee in 1892 "to be used as a burying ground forever." It was first called New Cemetery. Members of pioneer families, including Major Adams, are interred here. The property is now owned by the City of Bradenton. Major Adams moved into this area in 1876, and his homesite was on the Manatee River a few blocks northeast of here. Sponsored or placed by: The Judah P. Benjamin Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy and Florida Board of Parks and Historic Memorials"
