As we are in the midst of hurricane season, which runs from June 1st to November 30th, it's essential to prepare in advance. Visit WREC's Storm Center page to learn how to stay safe and ready for any storm that may come our way.
For your convenience, we've recently updated our secure pay-by-phone number (IVR). You can still use our main number, 352-567-5133, and select option 1 to securely make a payment over the phone.
WREC is proud to support the community through initiatives like Operation Round-Up, which assists families affected by catastrophic events. Members can choose to participate in this program, which rounds up their monthly bill to the nearest dollar, typically costing less than $0.50 per month. These funds are managed by a board of Trustees from our nine districts and are not used to pay electric bills.
Our commitment to the community extends beyond electricity. We support local education through the Lake-Sumter State College Line Workers Bootcamp and have made contributions to organizations like the Citrus County Sheriff's Foundation. We're also proud of our efforts in restoring power to 38,000 members following Hurricane Debby.

"If I could no stars I would !! I really dislike this company ! They can’t take freaking payment plans for struggling freaking families ! It’s either pay it get extension that’s it !!! I mean if we ask For extension is because we are struggling !! Maybe you guys need to change this policy’s because it’s not fair for struggling families !!! I got cut off one time 1500 fee they charged and the bill like really!!!!"
"This is the most horrible electric company that I’ve ever had to deal with. They won’t allow me to make payments over the phone OR online. I have to come into the office for the next year. I even explained to them My situation and how an abusive ex disputed all of the payments to them and I spoke with the supervisor and she didn’t care. The supervisor is sick and not compassionate. All of the staff members are very unknowledgeable they couldn’t even tell me if my electric was on or off while I was in their office and I asked three times. They do not send out emails over the weekend so I do not know that my prepaid account was in the negative and they shut my electric service Monday morning because I was at my daughters doctors appointment and couldn’t make it there in time I wish I could switch to a different electric company that unfortunately I cannot until I move."
"Third time this year we lost power. No storm no hurricane. Hottest days of summer I have babies in the house and we have no Power. They offer the only garbage power in pasco so you are forced to have them because there is no other option. Crazy I have no power and if you ask them can I get a discount on the bill “absolutely not. Actually we are raising the rates” This power company is pathetic. Not once have I ever had this problem with duke or teco"
"I've had very good experiences with Withlacoochee Electric. I've been in my home 7 years and when Irma came through I was only without power for 2 days. When I needed them to unwire and rewire because the pole in my yard had to be replaced they were here promptly and also when I needed the light changed on the pole in my yard they were here the day I called. And as for their rates they are far better then the big companies which I had when I lived in Tampa."
"I've had multiple issues with them. They have charged me twice and wouldn't refund just added to the account. They cut trees well behind the fence and power lines taking away privacy. There call system sucks and if you get put on hold they simply hang up. They don't give there names so you cant even complain about there to a higher up."
