"I recently visited the old Greenwood Cemetery in Saint Petersburg Florida, around 10 minutes from my home. The cemetery was beautiful and very peaceful, but it was very hard for me not to notice that the cemetery has not been kept up for many years. I found a few notices posted by the city of Saint Petersburg that requested the cemetery be cleaned up or else they would come in and correct all the violations. About 2 weeks had passed after my first visit, and the cemetery had not changed one bit. The following day the city came in and did a very good job cutting down all of the tall grass and weeds. The city of Saint Petersburg gets a thumbs up from me for the much needed care. They did leave a few piles of branches and palm leaves, so I am guessing that they will be coming back at a later time to pick them up. Martinpereznow"
"Nice historic cemetery. Beautiful tombstones. 1900's. Monument to confederation and union deads."
"It’s ok. The atmosphere is kind of dead."
"This cemetery is in need of some serious TLC. I spoke to a cop that often parks there to do his reports and he said that an organization goes a few times a year to clean it up. It needs much more than that and the city should be spending time working on preserving this historic cemetery. Almon Brown Strowger, inventor of the first telephone dial system, is buried here."
