Reviews
"Lifelong, I've read reviews and was compelled to share my lifelong experience, publicly making it known I needed some major help. Lifelong walked me through rent assistance. I had not worked in months, not because I'm not looking or lazy. I interviewed over and over again, I have a stutter, most fluid-speaking people assume stuttering means something negative. I seemed to never be chosen or offered positions where I supervised the managers who worked those positions. So for me, it felt like no one understood I was capable of the lower position but I would get bored in a matter of days. So long life story short. I found myself out of unemployment including they wanted 24,000 back as an overpayment which is ludicrous. I found myself months behind in rent. I watched my bank accounts disappear, the bank closed my accounts, credit cards maxed and retirement is gone. LIFELONG stepped in and reassured me they would do what they could. I explained this to the person who helped me with my experience, and she understood. Within a couple of days, my back rent was covered with a month's advance. They set me up to receive a bag of groceries per week too. I had a negative experience with lifelong before, I walked away from them. This time I feared I'd get the same promises with no action. No movement just stalled excuses. I was told new staff, new dedicated help. I'm glad I trusted them one more time. They gave me peace, the ability to fall and stay asleep, and gave me renewed faith that this agency was supporting Mr, lowered my stress level, and did exactly what they said they would do...help. I'll be forever grateful. I suggest to those who rated 1 Star reevaluate their rating by giving them a chance. Bringing on new people gives life support to any business. It's up to us to understand we all make mistakes, forgiveness and 2nd chances are what we all want and frankly deserve. Lifelong, thank you for helping! Shawn"
"It's hard to believe anyone has a bad experience here. I walked in without an appointment and was immediately greeted by a friendly receptionist, followed by two volunteers and a case worker. When I left an hour later, I was signed up to receive assistance with my insurance premium payments, deductibles and the cost of my HIV medicine, which is about $2500 per month. Other services were offered to me, such as assistance finding housing and meals. It has now been about one year since I began receiving assistance here, and the follow through has not decreased one bit. Joseph, my caseworker is superb! I shouldn't single him out because everyone I've met at Lifelong is superb. I haven't seen a single area in which improvement is needed. My life is easier and my mind is worry-free thanks to Lifelong."
"I tried a couple times to get assistance through various programs that they offer. Not only were they unwilling to assist, they were unwilling to provide any information on how to get assistance. What good is saying that you offer these programs if you won't sign anyone up that is eligible?!"
"This organization has a long history of doing very good work in the community from which it arose and for the communities that it now serves. It began as two separate organizations both of which were formed in response to the AIDS crisis, back when many were shunned by their support networks first for being gay and then for contracting this plague. From within the gay community two organizations came to be: The Chicken Soup Brigade offered meals and companionship to many who were left with neither; and The Northwest AIDS Foundation offered support for those who needed assistance through the quagmire of medical and social services, and a political voice for many whom much of the rest of the country at the time, wished would just be shut up (both figuratively and literally). In the late 1990s they combined under a single organizational umbrella to minimize the duplication of effort, and to allow their services a greater ability to adapt to the changing impacts the pandemic was having. What we see as a legacy is an organization still mission driven and responsive to an even larger and more diverse client base than would have ever been imagined back in 1983 when these organizations came into being. I am grateful every day for the work they have done and continue to do."
"If you are looking for a place to volunteer, this will be good for you. They offer many services here. Chicken Soup Brigade has a food kitchen which serves healthy food options for people faced with various health issues. They have wonderful Case management services here."
