Reviews
"If it weren't for St. Christopher's we would still be wading through the confusion of what to do about our alcoholic loved one. The pain was close to unbearable. We were all lost and so very tired. St. Chris was recommended to us and the counselors and techs there made the difference. After three months, our loved one graduated and transitioned with the help of staff. The combination of medical supervision, group therapy, and 24/7 supervision was the key to finding the path we are on now. Our alcoholic is over six months sober and proud. It's a day at a time, but we are thankful for this second chance, given to us by the caring folks at St. Christopher's."
"The facility is unsanitary and nearly everything is broken or almost broken. The overnight staff are inconsiderate and have no therapeutic skills. The building is full of rusty pipes and the air vents are disgusting. Temperatures within the building vary from 58 degrees in the morning to 86 in the afternoon. Asking for the air or heat to get turned on took begging, then when it was turned on, the tech on duty said, "Don't tell anyone I did this". The cool aide jar that was offered as an alternative to water was not washed once in 25 days, same with the coffee pot. Strip searches happened nearly nightly. Inbound and outbound mail was a joke. The nurses messed up my medicine 5 times in 25 days. All 5 milk bags used during my stay were sour. I asked to see the doctor 4 days before I left and never saw her. The washing machine was broken. When driving to the gym, the tech on duty would vape with the windows up. I highly recommend someone needing help with addiction look elsewhere."
"There is a review I have been meaning to write for a long time, one that I have not written because I want to get it not just “good” or “very nice” but one that I could get 100% perfect, and knock it out of the ballpark. This is not that review. This is a prerequisite to that review. I have been an addict and alcoholic for the majority of my life, and certainly not the typical normal drinker. I have gone through St. Christopher’s twice and, while that may be a red flag for some, both times I have achieved long-term sobriety. The first stint I went in 2009 and was sober a few months shy of eleven years, and after my relapse during COVID I returned and have a little over 18 months now. Never before have I been welcomed by people and felt as a part of a community in my life the way I have at St. Christopher’s. This is where I met a plethora of my friends, both casual and close, where I worked the 12 steps of recovery, where I met my sponsor, and most importantly, where I recovered from a desperate bottom I thought was potentially insurmountable and have thrived ever since. During my times of sobriety after St. Christopher’s, I have attained three college degrees- a Bachelors and two Masters, become successful in a career which many people find too difficult to become successful in, and what’s more- I learned how to live again, from the hopeless state that I was in when I walked through the doors each time. I played paintball with the guys while I was in treatment, went to movies, participated in groups, attended LSU athletic events, and more. I have traveled the country with friends I met here going to AA conventions. I have made friends who were there to help me get back on my feet when I was too low to help myself. I have sponsored and worked with the guys here as well. There is a very important point that I want to make here and that is how important it is to support your local treatment center. There will be naysayers who say that treatment is too expensive, that it isn’t necessary when you can recover through going to AA, etc., but this place in particular is amazing. I have been to treatment three times, and this is the one that saved my life. If there is ever a time when we do not have treatment centers to help those who cannot do it on there own, then recovery as a whole will be in jeopardy. I have partaken in many things in my life that I never would have had I never have set foot into this place. Please remember to keep these guys in mind whenever you have a loved one in need of help in recovery. If you want to achieve long-term sobriety, or you know someone who does, St. Christopher’s is the place to do it. Their success rate speaks for itself. The people who work here go above and beyond, from counselors, to the techs, to the nurses and kitchen staff. They work hard, they do it just to help others, they are selfless, and they usually aren’t driving home in Ferraris. They put a lot of work into what they do and if you go there, be sure to thank them Thank you, St. Chris. I owe you guys everything. I owe you my life."
"Incredible place and became the vessel from which I shaped my future. Moved to BR March 23, 2012 in desperate hopes of avoiding feeling empty and hopeless for the rest of my life. I entered St. Christopher's with a mustard seed of hope and came out with a forest of happiness, joyfulness, and freedom. The program was well designed and allowed not only myself to recover from drug addiction, but created a unique environment for my family members to slowly begin to rekindle a once forgotten or dare I say despised relationship. Even though my family remained in Oklahoma, the program enabled great opportunities for me to work on myself prior to upgrading into feeling useful as a son and brother again. The counselors, techs, and guys who shared my misery, but wanted change, made this program incredible for me and many others that I still cherish today."
"I’ve worked professionally with St. Christopher’s for more than 10 years. They have an excellent reputation in the field of behavioral health and addiction services. Their staff turnover is minimal. Their employees are extremely experienced, have a heart for others and helping them address their addiction and mental health challenges. My measure of a treatment facility is, “Would I send a loved one there?” Absolutely! You bet I would! I highly recommend St. Christopher’s!"
