"I had them rebuild a 4.0L OHV for a Ford Ranger in August of 2022. The first issue was when I picked the engine up and got it home, I found a bent rod (I don't know how it happened, I hadn't turned the engine over yet), so I took it back to them and they put a new set of rods in it. When I put the engine back in my truck I made sure to prime the oil system before first run and made sure it built oil pressure before it fired (I installed an aftermarket mechanical gauge). It has ticked on startup ever since day 1, it could be at operating temp and I can cut it off, and start it back up and it will tick for about 15-30 seconds again. The only way they would look at it and/or fix it is if I pulled the engine back out and brought it to them, they would not look at it in the truck. I have about 20,000 miles on it since the rebuild and I only have about 8 pound of oil pressure at hot idle and it leaks oil from the rear main seal that they replaced. I chose Kannapolis Engine Service because they had pretty good reviews from everyone, but I won't be taking them any other engines."
"I would give 10 stars to Kannapolis if I could! I live in New York and was having a hard time finding parts for a 2012 Ram at a decent price. I was connected with Paul and not only did he have the parts but at an extremely reasonable price! Excellent customer service; he was extremely kind, personable and understanding. He knew exactly what parts were needed for the job. Parts were shipped and arrived in less than 48 hours! I'm extremely grateful for Paul and Kannapolis and would highly recommend to anyone that needs engine repair."
"Paul and his crew always find a way to get it done with the rare mix of high quality and fair price. This is exactly what yiu can not get from other engine builders that rebrand themselves under other names but are still the same old junk. Avoid national brands and BUY LOCAL!!!"
"Very terrible attitude over priced and does NOT do what is asked the old man in the front in particular. If you want great work and not to be ripped off go to TKM OR Allison’s machine shop in Asheboro both are worth the Drive. I drove 36 miles further for half the price better attitude and better quality"
"Kannapolis Engine Service was great. Had a Ford 302 motor rebuilt and Adam worked with me to determine the best combination for what I was looking for. Did have a small issue after I picked up the motor but Adam did fix the issue at no extra cost. Overall friendly staff and would recommend."
