Dr. Markovich's academic journey began with a bachelor's degree from the University of Florida, followed by a medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine, where he graduated with distinction and was awarded a Health Profession Scholarship. He further honed his expertise through a fellowship in orthopaedic biomechanics and advanced rehabilitative research at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and MIT. His training included an internship and orthopaedic residency at the University of Southern California, along with two fellowships in joint implants and reconstructive surgery.

A board-certified orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Markovich is one of the nation's few experts in complex reconstruction of the hip, pelvis, and acetabulum. With over 4000 joint replacement surgeries to his credit, he is a trusted name in orthopaedic care. He holds board certifications from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, and the American College of Sports Medicine. Notably, he is the only local elected member of both the Association of Bone and Joint Surgeons and the Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.

Dr. Markovich is also a prolific author, with over 40 publications on joint replacements and biomechanics, and an esteemed speaker on arthritis, cartilage grafting techniques, and reconstructions of the pelvis, hip, and knee. As the Director of the Joint Restoration Research Laboratory, he is dedicated to advancing the practice of orthopaedic joint reconstruction.
