"Excellent surgeon, but great attention to me as a person/patient as well. I had total knee replacement. He checked in with me (talked to me directly!) during my recovery progress several times while I was recovering at the surgical center. I have had 2 previous foot outpatient surgeries, and was not checked on by the surgeons after the procedure in the recovery room. Recovered quickly, the PT's were blown away with my recovery progress and my movement ability - much more capable than any "standard" goal after TKR. I worked hard at PT, and yes it was very painful (as expected), but I give tremendous credit to Dr. Choi for giving me an excellent setup to work with/from/on. On my 2nd post op visit I asked him to see a model or get a pamphlet about the implant, as I had never seen the actual hardware. He asked me if I would like a picture of my own knee. Of course! He asked for my phone, and literally ran all the way down to the end of the long hall and popped into a doorway. He took pictures of my knee x-rays, and had the nurse bring my phone back up to the front desk. All before I was even finished checking out! His staff is top notch - no endless phone trees or wondering when or if you will hear back. They answer the phone, and when I did have to leave a message with a post op question the call back was very quick. It doesn't matter if a doctor is good, if he is not accessible to his patients. And one thing that is very important to me is how someone treats their staff/coworkers. The tone of that whole practice is such a refreshing change. I started with another doctor there, before moving into the surgical phase. All of the staff at both locations were very complimentary of their doctors, but obviously enjoyed their work and felt valued. I was appreciative of that as well. I was in a waiting room elsewhere with my fresh scar, and a gentleman kept watching - he finally asked me about the scar, what I had done, when, etc., etc. He was so impressed with the progress he saw at the early stage of recovery that he wanted my surgeon's name to try to correct his TKR that was not successful. Suffice to say, I am a fan. He is an incredibly talented surgeon, but a great listener, always upbeat, positive, and just all around nice guy!"
