"This review is more about Baycare’s billing practices than it is about Dr Irvin. On my recent annual wellness visit, during which there is no copay, Baycare decided to charge me $50.00 for an office visit. Florida Blue, my insurance carrier paid Baycare, my provider, $400.00 for the office visit when this was clearly identified as a wellness visit. After many phone calls to Florida Blue and Baycare, to have the $50.00 office visit they are charging me dropped, Baycare claims “that something must have been discussed during my wellness visit to make it an office visit as well.” I explained to them that Dr Irvin asked me how I was doing as he walked into the exam room, to which I responded fine. He then opened his laptop and said nothing. Assuming he was looking at my blood work, to break the silence, I said to Dr Irvin, it looks like my A1C is a little high (6.4), which he responded it is mostly from carbs. After that we spoke about how messed up the insurance industry is. He then asked me to get on the exam table where he checked my breathing and that was about it. I don’t know why he put in his report that the abdominal area felt fine, when he didn’t even touch me there. As I checked out, the receptionist said this was a wellness visit, which I said yes to, she made my next appointment, and I went on my way. 2 weeks later I received an email saying I owe $50.00. Which is not correct. On my last phone call with both Florida Blue, (whom I told they have more of a reason to go after Baycare than I do after paying $400.00 for something that did not occur) and Baycare, I said to Baycare, so what you are telling me is that the Wellness visit only covers the person who takes your vitals, which she agreed with. I am a healthy 64-year-old male who only goes to the Dr every 6 months for 2 maintenance drugs. I am writing this review as a final attempt to give Baycare the chance to make this right, and resubmit the claim as a wellness visit, before I decide whether to stay with them or move on."
"Stay away from this practice and staff. Saw Irvine as a new patient in 2020 and he was set-up as my Primary Provider. Decent guy. Since then my medical records from another healthcare specialist provider have routinely been sent to this practice as my primary provider. His office acknowledged receiving files. No effort on his or their part to follow-up with me. Now, when I need an appt they (Sally, front office) say since I have not come back at least once a year, I'm not considered a patient and must go thru the "new patient process". Ridiculous. No accommodation. No empathy. No help whatsoever. I asked Sally if this is a policy and do they notify patients of this 1 year policy to which she responded "everyone knows that". Then, when I pointed out her ridiculous statement, she tripped over her words again, and said "oh oh if you are not here for 3 years your file becomes inactive." Eventhough, all the while they are receiving my medical records from another provider into this "inactive" file and I'm of the impression he is my Primary Provider. Ridiculous. Sally, front desk, is a moron and insensitive. If considering this practice, reconsider and find one that cares about you as a patient and person."
"I am happy to have had Dr. Irvin as my primary-care physician the past four years. First of all, he is a caring human being (unlike, I estimate, half the doctors around, with their dead eyes, bad manners and assembly-line aspirations). Secondly, he is lucid in explaining matters in layman's terms. Thirdly, he has a fine support staff, led by Stephanie, who is always on top of things, e.g., in liaising with other offices and labs. 5 stars from a hard grader!"
"Dr. Irvin is very personable, thorough, and listens to me when I have concerns about my health. I would highly recommend DrIrvin. He is very professional, and I’m glad he is my Dr."
"I had my first new patient visit with Dr. Irvin this week. He was kind, patient, and knowledgeable . He listened to my concerns and addressed each of them professionally. He has a very nice disposition and mannerisms. I’m looking forwards to a long working relationship with him and his staff. P.S. Lynne was fabulous too."
