"Great doctor and a friend."
"LWOBS due to wait time. Dr. Sloan was finishing with the previous patient who required an extensive and unexpected workup. Yes, Dr. Sloan is doing his best to see the patients in a timely manner. All of them. Dr. Sloan literally followed the patient from the exam room to the lobby, attempted to explain to the patient I was now available to address her concerns. Son-in-Law of the patient (middle-aged gentleman, casually dressed) stood up and approached Dr. Sloan, demanding answers. Son-in-law (not known if he is POA/surrogate) elaborated that the patient has multiple concerns and deserves to be seen in a timely manner. Dr. Sloan stated "I can only agree. Here I am." Son-in-law stated "That's not good enough!" or words to that effect, stepping closer to Dr. Sloan. Dr. Sloan stated to son-in-law: "We have three options: 1. We can have a civil discussion right now in an exam room of the patient's needs. Or, 2. You have the option of rescheduling with me or another provider. Or, 3. I can call the police." The son-in-law escorted the patient out the door, stating, "I'd like to see you call the police..." in a belligerent manner. There were no other patients in the lobby at the time. Dr. Sloan spent approximately 5 - 10 minutes attempting, politely and patiently, to convince the patient of my current availability to address the patient's concerns. Health Care Workers have the right to work in an environment that is safe and free of hostile behavior or threats thereof. Copy of this note will be provided for management for review. LWS. Dr Sloan's account of my scheduled appointment is not what happened entirely. He failed to mention that I was not seen for close to two hours and left the exam room in tears. My son in law seeing Dr Sloan following me into the waiting area was concerned and approached the Dr, asking what was happening. Dr Sloan became frustrated when I refused to go back to the exam room, Sloan's frustration grew when my son in law complained about how i was treated. Dr Sloan was never threatened or subjected to intimidation by my 70 year old son in law. I do not feel good about how I was treated. Patients have a right to be seen in a timely manner and treated with dignity none of which happened at this appointment. Dr. Sloan is entirely culpable for what transpired. LOWBS means that they can't bill insurance for the visit. Medicare and Wellcare should review this incident."
"The best of the best of primary care doctors. Always courteous, concerned, listens, follows through on best procedures to cure his patients. Anyone who has Dr Sloan as their doctor is blessed as he takes his profession serious and insures no harm comes to his patient. Thank you Dr Sloan."
