"I've been interacting with David Nelson Construction for over 15 years in a professional capacity and have always been impressed with the professionalism of the employees and the quality of the work they perform. They are the most highly respected roadbuilder in the Tampa Bay area and, if I had to have work done in my neighborhood I would want it to be by them so it would be completed correctly. The trouble that most homeowners and business owners experience would be threefold if it needed to be repaired again and again over many more months before it was done, as is the case with some contractors. The benefit of not only seeing one jobsite is immense in understanding what is being discussed."

"I only gave 1 star because I feel like there's been recent improvements but as whole, this project has been horrific to my family and life. I live directly in the center of the construction on Central Ave and it all started on a bad note. There was no inclination of any stormwater project until I received a note on my door 15 months ago that it was starting and really, the next day large trucks , materials and equipment were placed directly in front of my house and on the right of way. This is the high point... For the last 15 months I have received zero communication from the workers, project managers or leadership about the extent of time and intrusiveness about this construction. It has interrupted my life in many ways, beyond the obvious dirt, debris and annoying changing road patterns with traffic but the actual house shaking may be the worst while trying to work or better yet, sleep since everyone is not on the same schedule. I have yet to hear about how may house will be cleaned, yard maintained and really, when the work will actually be completed. The few notes left or direct mail that send you to websites has been poorly if ever received and for a project of this magnitude in scope and cost, would expect anything better or at least feel like Nelson Construction could have made any effort to communicate back to neighborhood any of the schedule, plans or set expectations so we could be supportive. Sadly, it is quite the opposite as I have seen my neighbors struggle mightily while trying to approach the workers and seems to be an overall malaise regarding our needing to know anything about the project. I have deferred to others to provide details where as I am just sharing an overarching view of a home in the middle of the construction that has suffered quietly and and frankly, unable to leave because of the damage in a hot real estate market. Nelson Construction and the city of Tampa have done a horrible job of sharing information and I would not hire them for any project if this is an indication of their leadership."

"The construction these people are doing on Central Ave in Tampa is an absolute disgrace. Unsafe conditions for residents and I’m sure for workers as well. If these people aren’t sitting around chatting, they’re sitting around cat calling residents. Our street has been torn up with no end in sight and what seems like no progress at all. Also- we’re concerned they’ve disrupted a sewage pipe because our neighborhood smells like sewage constantly. Do better, City of Tampa, in choosing your construction contractors."

"No accountability and poor workmanship. Projects in Seminole Heights are poorly managed and way behind schedule. Destroying the neighborhood one day at a time."

"The flooding this company created in the neighborhood is unreal! People had their trucks towed and more. Look at their photos on the heights page. They refuse to answer, the workers are rude, they barely work while they take city money and destroy driveways and sidewalks. So disappointing City of Tampa! Why did you wanna hire them?"
