"Really sad to see the comments on this. Definitely thought the city was putting in a sick park. But apparently not. What a shame. There is hardly enough recreation beyond the beach, here. And crystal lake is still not even under construction. It makes you wonder for sure."
"The city of Cape Coral used eminent domain to tear down homes to build Lake Meade Park. As of Nov. 2023 they stated they were getting bids and there was no completion date. June 2024 the city announced they are bringing in a YMCA. I’m not sure this is even legal. Where did the $16 million that was slated for this park go? How do the families feel about having their homes taken from them for a ymca to be built?"
"The current mayor and city council (yes the same ones that recently voted themselves pay raises via a “stipend”) now aim to turn what originally was a nature focused park with funding from the tax payer GO BONDS vote into a lease agreement for YMCA of SWFL Inc…all after they stole people’s homes to acquire the land."
"The park was supposed to be completed 3 years ago. Now it’s just a bunch of overgrown dirt piles where people dump their trash. The city of Cape Coral used eminent domain to get rid of multiple homes there. One child even made a petition because they wanted to finish out their high school in the home they grew up in but the city couldn't wait and tore down their homes years ago. The city took $60 million dollars from the tax payers for these parks. For what? To the boomer leaving a 5 star review and- maybe learn the history of the area before shaming others."
"The plans for this look great, and will really improve the neighborhood. The person saying its an eyesore right now must think park building merely requires the snap of a finger and it magically appears. So leave a bad review until it's done? Sad that these people live amongst us. Another park they planned and started, but smaller, off of Gator Circle completed, and its beautiful. And it is already being enjoyed by families. Some people just like to complain and give everything bad a review because they are uptight, and suffering from Karenitis."
