"The room I got was small, lack of basic amenities, and not clean. There’s no fridge and microwave in the room. Shampoo, conditioner, and lotion provided was extremely tiny and it was a used half filled shampoo from the previous person! Hair dryer was missing and I found a ball of really disgusting looking hair on my bed sheet!!! The bed and the pillows were so stiff that made my back hurt the next day. For the price I paid, which is almost 250, it is definitely not worth it!!! Staff and housekeeping need to do a better job and this place need some serious upgrades for their rooms!"
"As a traveler visiting Long Island City, New York, I had the opportunity to book a stay at The Collective Paper Factory Hotel. Upon arrival, I was immediately impressed by the hotel's proximity to Manhattan, without the high Manhattan prices, making it a prime location for those who want to experience Manhattan wtithout having to stay and pay in Manhattan! One of the most fascinating aspects of the hotel is its incorporation of history into its design. The Collective Paper Factory Hotel was once a paper factory for over 100 years, and the hotel pays homage to this heritage through elements such as warm brick and wood accents in the 125 uniquely designed and decorated guest rooms. Although the rooms are furnished in elegant beige tones, the wooden floors do creak, which may be bothersome for light sleepers. While the restaurant has since closed as of 2023, the hotel does offer ample event space, making it an ideal location for conferences or receptions. In addition, the hotel rooms reflect a trendy, loft-like vibe that will appeal to design enthusiasts. Despite the slight inconvenience of creaky floors, I found the front desk to be attentive and accommodating. Specifically, when my room was not yet ready, they offered to check in my bags, allowing me to explore Long Island City without weighing me down. This small gesture, available to all travelers, was highly appreciated and made my stay even more pleasant. All in all, I highly recommend The Collective Paper Factory Hotel to anyone visiting Long Island City, New York. Whether for a quick overnight stay or extended business trip, there is much to appreciate in this four-star hotel full of character and history."
"The place has a cool concept. Size of our room was quite generous for the city. However, the old wood floors creak like crazy. Whenever anyone walked by in the hallway or a room next door it sounded like they were in our room. We could also smell smoke coming into the room at various times throughout the day. We were also woken up at 3am by people in yelling in the room next to us. Not relaxing or what we expected for how much the room costs. Also, no mini fridge or ice bucket for cold drinks."
"I love the history of the building. Aside from the fact that light slipped through the sides of the curtains, I loved the big windows in the corner room we had. The bed and pillows were okay but I find that's the case for most hotels. Plenty of restaurants and establishments to explore like the movie theater and the moving image museum."
"I'm not sure "4-stars" is an accurate portrayal. The bed was very hard and the pillows were practically nonexistent. Our room's hairdryer was missing, there was no mini fridge to store leftovers while on vacation, and there was no luggage holder. The staff were nice and the housecleaning did a good job. Heating worked well, just wish we had a better idea of what the bed and room would be like."
