"I need to share my experience with the contracted tailor, Mr. Kim, and Jimmy. I came in with my mom on a Friday needing a gown to be altered for a wedding celebration. Jimmy told us that the main tailor was not in, but that Mr. Kim could help us if we paid cash up front. Very well. I requested that my dress be hemmed and that the bust area be taken in, which totaled $90. I wore it in front of Mr. Kim, and he put safety pins in, which I pointed out were uncentered in the bust area - the v-neck looked more like a ✓-neck. He tried correcting it but it was still off, so I assumed he could fix it once the dress was in his hands and he could lay it flat. When I picked up the dress the following Monday and tried it on, it was ruined. One side of the bust was now longer than the other, with only a couple mismatched stitches holding the center of the chest in place - the ✓-neck was now permanent. There were gaps in between the stitches, and the fabric underneath had been cut away, so there was so chance of correcting the symmetry of the dress without making the bust smaller, which would have been too tight. Besides that, one side of my dress had been hemmed, while the other side remained touching the floor. It seemed as if the tailor gave up halfway. At this point, I did not trust Mr. Kim to somehow restore the bust, and I wanted a refund. From a $200 dress, I was suddenly out $290. I returned with my mom the next day that Mr. Kim was in, wearing the dress so I could point out the irreversible mistake in the bust and ask for a refund. Mr. Kim immediately got defensive, saying that he did everything I asked him to do, that anything that looked off was already like that. As I explained in detail what had gone wrong, he started tugging at the straps of my dress as I was wearing it, as if that would fix the uneven v-neckline, and the longer fabric on one side on the bust. I said, "This has nothing to do with the straps," and he walked away, only to return with a blade to cut away the stitching he had done in the chest area AS I WAS WEARING IT. My mom and I immediately told him to stop, and when Jimmy said they could fix it, I again asked for a refund. This is when Jimmy suddenly treated my mom and I as if we were fools. He gave my mom a $90 credit for dry cleaning - which she reluctantly took - and when talking about Mr. Kim, he said, "Well, he's retired. Well, he's old. Well, his eyesight is bad, he can barely see. Well, you came in when my wife wasn't here. Well, I have nothing to do with this, he's just a contractor who works out of our store. Well, he barely speaks English. Look at him, he can't even understand us talking about him right now. I can give you credit for our dry cleaning. I'll talk to him. Please don't tell my wife about this. Well, now you know, right?" ... Now you know? ... Now you know?? I was left speechless hearing all this deflection and these horrible excuses when Jimmy told us we could work with Mr. Kim in the first place. Why let someone work out of your store if this is your opinion of him and this is your excuse for the work he does? Even worse, WHY TELL A CUSTOMER THEY CAN WORK WITH HIM if this is your opinion of him and this is your excuse for the work he does? And then to put it like this is a learning lesson for me... WHAT? So all this was my fault? How was I, as a customer, supposed to know NOT to ask a designated tailor to tailor a dress for me? The irony is baffling. I'm astounded by this kind of terrible business practice from a place that normally has such nice reviews! I'm sure the dry cleaning here is more reliable, but I would tell anyone to stay away from Mr. Kim's tailoring. And if you as the owner say that he's too old, and his eyesight is too bad, and his English is not good enough, please consider not contracting him in the first place."
"I would not advise it for tailoring. The guy in front is friendly, but I could not get what I wanted from the beginning, tailoring wise. The attitude of the female tailor is not pleasant. I have had many alterations done in the past 13 years on my uniform in other places, but this is the first time I have had a tailor act as though they were a representative of my company. She was so conservative in her alterations. Just not good. I would never return and I am sure the reply would be that I'm not welcomed, but it was clear that my business was not welcomed from the beginning by that woman...her husband's kindness made me look past her hostility."
"Amazing service quality. Laney's laundry was going to charge me more for my dry cleaning and could only deliver 4 days after Joy. Jimmy looked over my dry cleaning, noting stains and material. The coat came out beautifully - thank you!"
"My new go-to cleaners. Jimmy is extremely professional and hands on with all of his clients. I’ve brought designer items, weighted sheets, and work clothes that have been meticulously cleaned the best I’ve ever seen In the past. There’s also seamstress and alteration services provided if necessary. The pricing is very affordable, so do yourselves a favor and support this fantastic business!"
"This cleaners is about 20 min each way from my house, and that’s by car. With so many other cleaners around, joy s. organic dry cleaners is the only place I would ever take my good clothes."
