"They have a total of 4/11 working dryers, and only about 4 working machines out of the 10 they have, save your time, don’t come here. They seem to have gotten lazy after the laundromat across the street closed. Better spot a few blocks down and I’d recommend it 100% over this location, staff is friendly but clearly they don’t care about having functioning machines. Good luck"
"Update on July 23, 2024: At this point, all I can say is try another laundromat to keep yourself from the headaches this laundromat will give you. UPDATE for today yesterday's visit, June 18, 2024: No improvements at all in 3 months! Coin dispenser still not working, WOMAN WHO WORKS HERE STILL GIVES DIRTY LOOKS. Half of the dryers have not worked in 6 months. THE DRYER I USED TODAY FOR 30 MINUTES DID NOT FULLY DRY MY CLOTHES, NOT EVEN THE COTTONS. Its going downhill faster than a speeding rocket. This laundromat has gone downhill in the past two years. There are 4 dryers and 1 washing machine that are not working at the moment. They have been broken for over a month now. Then there are the two women that work there who are very rude. If you ask one a question she yells at you or holds her head with both hands and grits her teeth at you. I only asked her for change since the coin machine is also broken. Obviously she couldn't handle a simple thing like that. The younger one gives me dirty looks every time I go in there if I have to ask for a finished machine to be emptied. Then she makes fun of me in Spanish with an obnoxious loud rude man who lives nearby or with other customers. The only reason I go here still is because it's closest to my house. The owner needs to fix this place up and hire decent people to work there. If you use their drop off service they wash your clothes. When they take your clothes out of the dryer the woman drops half of the clean clothes on the floor. Most importantly: My husband's MOODY BLUE'S anniversary shirt did not return to us with his clothes."
"Fifth Update: July 23, 2024. Gentle Readers, I once again find myself on the worn-out vinyl chair at FM Laundromat. It is splitting in two, just as my soul is. The temperature outside is 88 F with 65% humidity, and the air conditioner inside is not functioning. I’ve been able to put off laundry for several weeks, thanks to a unreasonably large stock of undergarments procured at the nearby Costco. I could delay no more, however. Today, there is good and bad news — only 2 of 10 washers are out of order (compared to 4). The others seem to function, though one of the smaller ones I’ve seen an employee pouring water into the detergent tank to keep the machine going. Most of the screens do not work on the machines, leaving you to continue to insert quarters until the machine clicks on. In bad news, 7 of the 12 dryers continue to be in disrepair. I have added additional photos. The change machine continues to not work. Today I discovered that some dryers give you 10 minutes for $0.25, while others give you 8 minutes. There is no way to tell until you insert a quarter, but I choose to consider it good fortune when the LED lights up with “10” — but a drop of water for my laundry-parched tongue. Is this hell? Maybe. Fourth Update: June 30, 2024. Dearest Reader, I continue to be forlorn at the ongoing pursuit of clean clothing. Today, 9 of 12 dryers continue to be unusable. 4 of 10 washers continue to be broken. You may ask, why do I continue to patronize a business with a clear and horrific track record? Well, first is the social requirement that I wear clean clothing (or clothing at all). Second, I am a total lazy a$$, and I’m not going to cross multiple avenues with my laundry cart towering with clothing. Third, I’m now invested into how terrible this place can be. I write to you as I use my Dryer #4 (the employee said “That one works, usually.”). After 60 minutes on the low setting, my towels are as still moist as my buttcrack on this most humid of NYC summer days. Just switch dryers! you may say. Gentle reader, I would if I could, but the few other functional dryers are all in use. I am relegated to watching my life go by in ten minute increments for the cost of a quarter each time. I watch the swirl of my sheets and the spiral of my shirts, as a lone drip of sweat glides down my nether-region and onto my thigh. The employee, seeming to relish in my despair, looks at me, as if to squeeze her claws even tighter into her captive-market prey and says, “Next time, you try number 8 dryer — it might work better.” In a final act of resignation and submission, knowing the change machine continues to be broken (as is my spirit) I ask her for more quarters. June 13, 2024 continued: 9 of 12 dryers, as the one I used does not work either. They would not refund me. Update June 13 2024: it got worse: 4 of 10 washers remain broken, and 8 of 12 dryers remain broken, and change machine still broken. Go anywhere else - these machines have been broken for MONTHS. Update June 1 2024: Three months later, STILL with multiple broken machines. Change machine STILL does not work. This place is STILL not worth it. March 2024: This place is really terrible. Right now, HALF of the washing machines are out of service. The machines that are in service have a difficult time taking coins, and the displays are very difficult to read. The timer on the machines does not match up with how long the cycle actually takes. The machines will charge you more for warm or hot water, but the attendant said that everything is cold water no matter which option is selected (she got very sheepish when it was pointed out, and tried to refund me). This seems unethical, and takes advantage of people in our neighborhood. The change machine has not operated in over three months, you have to ask the attendant for change each time. There are limited options in the neighborhood, however the walk to a different laundromat is worth it."
"How is this place still open? Like half their machines are broken for over a year. Be careful if you actually get a dryer. Some of the dryers will scorch your clothing. This place had a golden opportunity when the laundromat closed across the street, but the owner doesn't seem to put any money into this place to fix anything. It gets worse as time goes on."
"The laundry in itself is pretty cool, but the Woman managing it is absolutely crazy. She can neither speak nor understand English, and is just rude for no reason. However, the man who works there is pretty reasonable & helpful. Laundry itself is 5 stars, the woman's attitude brings the rating down to 2 stars, but then the man's attitude helps it to come back up to 3 stars. (lol I'm crazy too by now) There are 10 washing machines, of different sizes & with different wash cycles. The smallest one costs $2.50 & has a 30 minute cycle. The cost goes up if you change the cycle type as well as water temperature. There are 12 dryers and almost all of them are in good shape and the high temperature gets you a quick dry. The dryer is priced at 25 Cents ($0.25) per 10 minute cycle. They also have a huge variety of detergents & softeners available, so you can only bring the stuff you want washed & buy the detergent there. There is a change machine to convert your dollar bills to quarters. They also have a wash & fold service. Convenient location on the corner in a residential neighbourhood."
