"Joe "The Baker" Catania was riddled across his head back in the early 1930s when it was a white candy shop. The gunmen were across the street and were...I've said too much. But my grandmother told me the story because she watched it all go down when she was in middle school I believe at the time. The "look out man" actually said to my Grandmother "look out little girl" and pushed her to the ground as the gunshots rang out. She was not about to tell the authorities anything of what she witnessed. She got just picked herself up from the ground and continued back to school because she had gone home this particular day to eat lunch. Her father told her "you don't know anything, you didn't see anything. Loved her stories about growing up in the bronx during prohibition. Her stories were awesome !"
"The biggest upside is it's convenient location and that you don't have to buy some ridiculous card - bring singles or fives to exchange for quarters. My biggest gripe is that the dials on the washing machines are broken in such a way as to make it hard to see what part of the cycle you're on. Otherwise, it's a laundromat, not a hang out spot. Busy hours are during the weekday, since I think people try to get laundry done while kids are at school. Evenings on weekdays is pretty empty. Never had to wait for a machine."
